If you want to just exact copy the makeup brushes of some big brands like MAC, Sigma or Bobbi Brown. You need everything to be the same as the big brand, only change the logo to be your own. In this case, you only need to tell manufacturers of the part numbers, as well as your logo file. The manufacturers will know your exact requirement on the material/size of the brushes. It is the easiest way for new customers, but the price will be rather high due to the high quality.

If you think the price is too high for you, and you want to do some change on the current material of big brands. You should be familiar with the material, especially the hair material. Go to internet and try to find the difference between each material, if you can feel by your own hands, it will be the best. You can buy some samples from some brush shops to feel the quality. After knowing your exact requirement on the material, you can tell manufacturers that you need the same design of the big brands but only change the material. If everything is clear, the manufacturers will know your requirements.

If you do not like the design of big brands, and would like to have totally different brushes. You should offer the drawings of the brushes, and also specify the exact material and color of each part. It is a little difficult for the customers who have no engineer background. If computer drawing is too difficult for you, you can do the drawing by pen on paper and then take a picture to send to manufacturers, but you need note the dimension of each part, also specify the material and color of each part.

Another way is: you try to find the satisfied part from online shop. For example, you love the brush head and material of A, but like the ferrule of B, the handle of C, then you can buy these 3 brushes and send to manufactures. With these samples and your clear explanation, manufacturers will understand what kind of brushes you need.

Anyway, the above tips are just for the new customers. For experienced customers who have been in this field for many years and have been very familiar with makeup brushes, the above tips are not helpful.

Badger hair is too stiff for normal makeup brushes

Recently, we are keeping discussing a project with a customer who would like to customize makeup brushes with their own logo. They need powder brush, foundation brush, fan brush, blush brush, eye brushes and lip brushes. We have finalized the size and color of the hair, ferrule and handle, as well as the material of ferrule and handle.

However, during discussion the hair material, the customers insist that they need badger hair for all brushes. But per our experience, badger hair is too stiff for normal makeup brushes. It is usually used on shave brushes to apply shaving soap or shaving cream to the face when shaving.

If the badger hair the customer mentions is really natural badger hair, it should not be used on makeup brushes, the stiffness will hurt our skin, and its powder holding capacity is really bad. Since it can not help to apply makeup on our face, and also is so stiff, why we use it for our makeup brushes?

Anyway, since some customers like the appearance of badger hair, some makeup brush factories use synthetic hair to imitate badger hair. As it is in fact synthetic hair, it is very soft and will not hurt human skin, and also have certain capacity to hold powders. Such makeup brushes gain great preference of many users. So they believe that badger hair should be so great. They do not know that it is not badger hair but synthetic hair. That is why they insist on badger hair for all their brushes, but the makeup brush manufacturer can not agree with such thought.

Therefore, in case of any misunderstanding during communication and cognition, customers should send real samples to the makeup brush manufacturers to illustrate the material/size/color they need. When the manufacturers see the samples, they will know the exact requirements of customers.  

Painted copper ferrule is easily faded

The ferrule material can be aluminum or copper, both of them have their own characteristics.

Aluminum ferrule is cheaper, and can be anodized to a variety of colors such as light silver, matte silver, light black, matte black, red, blue, green, gold , brown, purple, etc, but it is easily scratched, the brightness and glossiness are not so good as copper ferrule.

The copper ferrule is more expensive, but it has perfect brightness and glossiness, as well as great quality and metal texture, which is difficult to be surpassed by aluminum ferrule. However, copper ferrule also has its limits on colors.

It is know that most MAC and Sigma brushes are with copper ferrule, and all copper ferrules are with nickel color or metallic silver. During custom makeup brushes, some customers would like their brushes to have the same quality as MAC or Sigma brushes, but to show the uniqueness of their makeup brushes and to make some difference from MAC and Sigma brushes, they would like to have some change on the colors of hair, ferrule and handle.

It is no problem for hair and handle, but for ferrule, it does have some difficulty. Few makeup brush manufacturer can do colorful copper ferrules, we usually suggest customers change the ferrule material to aluminum or keep the original copper color; if customers insist on colorful copper ferrules, we have to order from professional ferrule factories, and there are only several ferrule factories in China who obtain such technology.

Per our experience, the painted copper ferrules are easily faded or scratched during transportation and usage. Once the copper ferrules is fade or scratched, it is very difficult to repair or rework, then the whole brush will be useless.

Therefore, during designing or personalizing makeup brushes, please realize that the copper ferrule has its limits. If you would like to have colorful ferrules, please choose aluminum ferrule; if you prefer good quality with copper ferrule, please keep the ferrule color to be silver which is the original color of copper.

Our price list is just for your reference

At the very beginning, many customers are not familiar with makeup brushes; they do not know what kind of brushes they need, so they require the makeup brush factory to send them price list. However, most makeup brush factories have already made thousands kinds of makeup brushes, it is impossible to list all price. Therefore, we usually send the price list of the brushes we recently made to customers for their reference.

Although we have emphasized that it is just for their reference, and to avoid of any misunderstanding, we also indicate the exact material of the brushes in the price list. Some customers are still shocked by our price. They do not know what the material means, but just check the appearance and price of the brushes, and then believe the price is too high. When we ask them of their exact requirements on the material and size, they have no idea; when we ask them of their target price, they also have no idea….

It is in fact too difficult for our quotation. To know the material and size, we can quote exact price; to know their target price, we can estimate the material and size even if customers can not offer any other information. But customers can not offer any information; but only consider our price is too high.

Here, we would like to reaffirm that the price list we sent you is just for your reference. All the brushes listed are in top quality, so the price must be higher than the brushes with normal or low grade. And if any change on any part-material/size/color, the price will be definitely different.

The best time for quotation

Every day, we receive many emails from worldwide customers who want to customize makeup brushes and would like to get quotation from us. We know that it is the best to quote within 24 hours, but it is somewhat impossible, so to improve our work efficiency, we need to treat different inquiries in different ways.

1.       Some inquires have contained enough information for quotation, the customers list their detailed requirements on the material/size/color of the hair/ferrule/handle/logo, as well as their exact order quantity. Some even send us the brush drawing. For these emails, we MUST quote within 24 hours, as such inquiries has Great Potential, if the price is acceptable for customers, we very likely can get the orders;

2.       Some inquires only contains brush pictures, customers send us the pictures of the brushes they want to copy. If the pictures are clear and large enough, we can estimate details and material from the pictures. In this case, it is the best to quote within 24 hours. Some makeup brush manufacturers may insist to ask customers of the exact material and size of the brushes, but we should know that most customers are not so professional in makeup brush production, they only know they need such brushes; few of them know the exact material of the brushes. They may be confused if we asked them so many questions. What we need to do is to list the exact material and size of the brushes during quotation, in case of any misjudgment of the brushes; after all, we can not ensure everything just through pictures.

3.       Some customers only roughly tell us they need good quality makeup brushes. For such emails, we should firstly ask of the detailed requirements. As we have no base to quote any brush, we even do not know what kind of brushes they need.

In a word, if we can quote, we should try our best to quote within 24 hours; if the information is not enough for quotation, we should wait until getting enough information from customers.

Animal hairs will break more or less

After getting the makeup brushes from the makeup brush factory or from wholesaler, the users can't wait to check the brush quality. They clearly check the touch feeling of the hairs; connect of hair, ferrule and handle, as well as the color and hair shape. Everything is satisfied, the brush color and work craft is as promised; the hairs are in proper shape and have comfortable touch feeling; no hair shedding or fading; then they try to drag the brush hairs to check the fastness, and find some hairs broken after dragging. Here we would like to explain that all animal hairs will more or less break after dragging. It is just like our human hairs. Especially goat hair, no matter how great the goat hair is, it is naturally fragile. Therefore, we should avoid of dragging the hairs during our daily using. If you want to check if there is hair shedding, you just need to sweep the brush heads on your arms or hands for tens times. Also, we should prevent the brush heads from sharp matters, for example, knives or scissors etc. Also, the hairs will break after long period of using. If your brushes have been used for more than one year, and the hair become broken, it is certainly not a quality problem. And due to the hair nature and characteristics, after some period, the hair will become more fragile even without any using. If you buy a makeup brush with natural hair, even you never use it; the hair will become fragile after long period. Just like a clothes, you buy it but never wear it, the color will also fade after long period. Therefore, if you find that the brushes you bought have many broken hairs, it should be a quality problem. But if only several broken hairs, it is only the hair nature, not a quality problem.

Chinese customers care about brand more than quality

Recently, we did a test on Chinese customers’ preference- brand or quality. And finally find that most Chinese customers care about brand more than quality. The test process is very simple: Firstly, we produce two groups of makeup brush sets, one group is labeled with our own brand, and the other group is labeled with a famous brand. But the quality, size, material is totally the same: we order the material from the same supplier; put them into the same production line; make them by the same workers and also the same inspectors. Secondly, we launch these two groups of makeup brushes in our online shop in a famous website in China. Very soon, we find the difference: no one shows any interest in the brushes labeled with our brand, not to mention any purchase; but the brushes labeled with famous brand are so hot that they are sold out quickly. Then, we try to reduce the price of the brushes labeled with our brand; the price is almost half of those with famous brand, but still no body interest; many customers still would like to buy the makeup brushes with famous brand. We know the reason is the Chinese market is lack of standardization and regulations; most customers do not trust the quality of Chinese brand, so they are shopping the pursuit of brand, especially in overseas brand, they believe that overseas brand is the quality guarantee, even if this brand produce their products completely in China factory, customers still would like to pay more than 10 times to buy the brand. It is really the responsibility of all Chinese makeup brush manufacturers, as well as the related government offices. Sending mass emails to get quotation

To get the best price, many customers choose to send their requirements to mass makeup brush manufacturers; they believe they will certainly get the best price by this way. However, the fact is it really depends.

If customers have brush samples or detailed drawings which specify size/material/color of the hair/ferrule/handle/logo, it is great. They can send the samples or drawings to many makeup brush manufacturers to get quotation. As everything is clear and confirmed in the samples and drawings, the cost should be almost the same. Therefore, the price from different manufacturers should have small difference. Customers can reject those who quote very high price, and choose a proper supplier from those who offer proper price. This is really a good way to find out the best makeup brush supplier.

However, if customers have no drawing or sample, it is not wise to get quotation from many suppliers since the price is incomparable. Firstly, different manufacturers have different understanding on the quality level. For example, the customer send a brush picture to different manufacturers and say they need high quality brushes. Since it is impossible to ensure the size and material from picture, it will cause different understanding on the quality and size. Some manufacturers think customers must need very good quality or top quality, so they quote a high price for the top quality and best material; while some manufacturers believe good quality is just a common saying of the customers, so they quote a low price with low grade material and quality. Each factor difference will affect the brush price. Therefore, the price will have big differences. In a word, it is somewhat meaningless to compare price if customers have no sample or detailed drawing.

If customers only have a picture of the brush, it is best to send their target price to us, then we will know their quality requirement. If they easily choose the suppliers who offer the lowest price, they will find that the size, material and quality are far away from exception. If with such quality, the makeup brush manufacturers who offer much higher price will certainly can offer such low price.

The description of makeup brush size and material

During communication with makeup brush manufacturers, most customers can not offer enough or exact information, they just send us the description of the shape, size and material.

For example, as of the material, they said they need good animal hair, but there are so many kinds of animal hair, and the cost vary a lot, it is impossible to quote according to such description. Some customers offer more exact information but still far away from enough. They require good goat hair for a powder brush, but the goat hair also has various grades, and the price also vary a lot. It is also very hard to quote accordingly.

For the makeup brush material, we need to know the exact material: for hair, please let us know the exact hair material; if goat hair, please let us know the exact grade; for ferrule, please let us know it is copper or aluminum? Is it required to shiny or matt? For handle, we need to know it is plastic or metal or wooden? And should be shiny or matt?

For the size, most new customers can not offer enough information. They only send us the brush name such as angled face brush or domed powder brush, without any other information. No makeup brush manufacturer can get known the size just by such description. When we require detailed information, some customers will then send us some pictures to explain what they need, it is good, but we still can not read enough and exact material just through the pictures. As pictures can be zoomed in and out, it is hard to ensure the correct size and material; some will send us the part number of some brand, for example: Maybelline gel liner brush or NARS yachiyo kabuki brush. However, no matter how professional we are in the makeup brush industry, we can not know the size of each brand. Therefore, the part number of some brand is also not enough.

Therefore, for exact quotation, we should know the detailed size of each part, if customers can offer drawings, it will be the best. We can get enough information from the drawings.

Our MOQ requirement

Many customers send us emails to ask of our MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) requirement, here we would like to explain again:

 

The MOQ we refer to is always for each brush instead of mixed order.If we said our MOQ is 500pcs, that means 500pcs each instead of total quantity for different brushes.

 

The MOQ vary according to different brush type and material. For example, the MOQ of the makeup brushes with #2 goat hair will be at least 2000pcs; but even if all other factors/aspects keep unchanged, only change the material to ZGF goat hair, the MOQ will be 500pcs or 300pcs. Also, the MOQ of large brushes will be lower than small brushes. For example, if customers only want large powder brushes, the MOQ will be about 1000pcs, but if only want small eye brushes, the MOQ may be 5000pcs. Of course, if they want to order both powder brushes and eye brushes, the MOQ will be the same as the powder brushes.

 

Therefore, during custom makeup brushes, to know the MOQ, please firstly send your detailed requirements on the brushes to the makeup brush factory, then we will check the MOQ accordingly.

 

Whatever, no matter what is your requirement on the size and material, our MOQ will not be less than 300pcs each. So if customers would like to order several makeup brushes or less than 300pcs each, we are sorry that we can not help.

Off season is coming

According to our experience, now all makeup brush factories have entered into off season. During this season, only a few orders from customers, some factories have to eke out the production line.

 

The off season will be from July to September, which is the most hot period of the whole year. During this period, most Europe and America customers will have their summer holiday, so they do not work and will not place order from the makeup brush manufacturers.

 

However, as summer is mostly rainly and moist days, the lead time will be longer than normal. The normal lead time is about 40 days, but in summer, due to the rainly and moist weather, the drying period will be much longer, so the lead time may reach 60 days if there are many and continous storm and rain.

 

So we strongly suggest customers place order before your summer holiday, then go to enjoy your holidays, we will arrange everything during your holiday, and after your back to the office, your makeup brushes will appear in front of you, it will not waste any time.

 

Also, due to the off season, there will be not many orders, the production line will not so busy, so we will have enough time to make each brush perfect. That means the brush quality during this period will be certainly better than usual.

 

As a makeup brush factory, during the off season, if no order, we will also do all preparation work for the production. As after the off season, orders will certainly rush up, if no full preparation, we must be in tearing hurry. In a word, although the off season is coming, we do have a lot of work to do.

 

We need required logo file

Logo is a certain topic during customizing makeup brushes. Since logo design will also affect the price, most customers will send their whole logo design to us at the very beginning.

 

The whole logo design should be the exact logo to be printed on the handle. If customers would like to have their name and picture on the logo, they need to reflect the size/color/font/position of the letters, and color/size/position of the picture, as well as their typesetting. Please remember that the letter and picture should be one, it does not mean a separate picture design and a separate letter design and then combine the two pictures in one word file, such design are not required logo file.

 

The logo file can be .eps or .doc or.jpg or.pdf etc, but most designers use PostScript to make the logo file.

 

While some of our customers are only small beauty salon or individual makeup artists, they have no capacity to hire a professional art designer, so they just send their requirements on the logo by words and would like the makeup brush factoryto do the logo design for them.

 

However, no makeup brush manufacturer will offer logo designing. The logo is always offered by customers.We only do the production.

 

If the logo only have letters in one color, we can help to do the logo if customers tell us the fonts and position. But if the logo include letters and picture, and also have different colors, we do need to know its typesetting. Before printing the logo on the brush handle, we need to firstly make a printing plate which includes the whole logo (picture and letter), if anything changs, the whole plate will be useless, so we need to confirm everything at the very beginning.

 

If the customers’ company do not have any aart designer, they can source a professional art designer at your location and let him do everything. Such art designer is very easy to find. It will make everything easy. Otherwise, it will hold the project for long time.

 

 

We do NOT sell several brush

We receive many emails every day which require to buy only 1-10 makeup brushes from us. But, as we explained, we are a makeup brush manufacturer instead of a warehouse or distributors, we produce makeup brushes only after getting orders from customers, so we do not have inventory for makeup brushes.

 

Some customers visit our website: http://www.tmakeupbrushes.com and see the pictures shown on the website, then they thought all these brushes are stock items. But in fact, these are only the brushes we once or have made for our customers. We put the pictures on our website only to show our capacity and our brush quality, most of them are not inventory. Even if we have some brushes in stock, they are only leftover stock or reserved sample, the quantity will not too many. Also, these brushes will have the customers’ logos. So we can not sell them to other customers.

 

Some customers would like to customize makeup brushes with their own brand or name, but they only require 1 of each. That is because they are makeup brus artists, and only want to get a special makeup brush instead of sell the brushes to any one. We do understand their situation, but we really can not offer only 1 brush with their own logo. As the cost is rather high, sometimes, the customers will be shocked by the high price to buy only one makeup brush with their own name, and believe we charge exorbitant prices. But it is really the situation. Therefore, to avoid any misunderstanding which may affect our potential customers, we will not sell one brush.

 

We have MOQ for our orders, the MOQ varies according to different brush types. Therefore, to get known our MOQ, please firstly let us know what kind of brushes you need, then we will give you feedback accordingly. But whatever, we will NOT sell one brush or less than 100pcs for each.

About the brush holder

If you have several or even more than 10pcs makeup brushes in hands, you must consider storing them in certain place instead of in messy.

The traditional way is put them in a makeup brush bag, so that we can take all of our brushes even in travel, and can also protect the brushes from dirts and dusts. However, if at home, brush bags are not so convenient, we need to take out and replace each brush during makeup. That is why the brush holder are invented.

With the brush holder/container, we can conveniently take out and store makeup brushes during apply. Also, as the brush holders usually have two parts, we can store more than 20pcs brushes. And after closing, it can also prevent dirts and dusts, and can also take with us during travel.

For the holder material, it is usually PU leather or cloth. The outside material is usually PU, while the inner materian can be PU or cloth. Some may think PU must be better than cloth, it is not the case, PU has heavy smell, while cloth has not. Also, as the holder cover is usually guled, if the inner cover is also PU, it is hard to ensure the smooth on the inner cover, but cloth can be easily glued, so will look very smooth.

For the holder size, it depends on the size of your brushes. If your brushes with rather long handles, it is better to have a tall holder; if you only need to store several brushes, you may only need slim holder, but if you have more than 10-20pcs brushes, you will need larger holder.

For the holder shape. It can be round or oval, the sigma holder has oval shape.

If the material and size is different, the price of the holder will accordingly be different. Therefore, during customize makeup brush holders, please send your detailed requirements on the holders to your supplier or manufacturer, including the inner and outside material, height and diameter. Otherwise, you may not get required and satisfied holders.

Stick bristles can reduce bristles falling

To reduce the bristles falling during makeup brush production, we have used varoius methods, such as combing out some extra or fly bristles, washing off broken hairs, brush off the heads by hands etc. However, even after these process, there are still some stubborn bristle can not be completely removed. Some customers still find that there are some bristles falling during applyiing makeup.

Although it is normal to have several bristles falling during first usage, we still try our best to reduce the falling quantity to be the minimum. God helps those who help themselves, after our exploration and research, we found a way to remove some more bristles, that is stick off the bristles by adhesive tape.

After assembling the makeup brushes, rolling the brush heads on large adhesive tapes, then the adhesive materials will stick to the bristles, during rolling and pulling, the loose bristles will be left on the tape. Repeat this step for several times, you will find no bristle falling even during cleaning.

Anyway, such method has its limit. For top grade animal hairs, such sticking will somewhat hurt the hair tip, then will affect the hair excellence of the hairs. Therefore, for top grade goat hair like XGF goat hair and ZGF goat hair, it is best not use such process.

For synthetic hair or high/medium/low grade animal hairs, sticking the hairs can greatly reduce the falling quantity. For top grade animal hairs, we will use our hands to brush off the falling/broken hairs and try our best to protect the hair tips.

If you customize makeup brushes from China or South-East Asia, you MUST require preproduction samples before production is launched. Most makeup brush manufacturers will offer preproduction samples, since it is the industry regulations. If your suppliers or manufacturers can not offer you preproduction samples, you should be very careful about their capacity and fames. 1. Always ask for perfect preproduction samples

It is really an obvious principle, but many buyers do not follow it due to various reasons. Some suppliers explain that the lead time is urgent, and they promise that “it will be fine in mass production”, then the buyer surrend.

The problem is, if you do not check preproduction samples, you will not be show a clear standard to your makeup brush manufacturers, which will leave potential problems for future quality inspection. And if you are not satisfied with the makeup brushes you received, you will have to pay much more to solve these problems.

In some other industries, it is very common that mass production is not as nice as the pre-production samples. But for makeup brushes, mass production brushes will be the same as preproduction samples, or even better. We have also explained the reason in previous articles.

If you have a perfect pre-production sample, but are anxious for the mass production quality. You can write down your all your detailed requirements on the brushes, for example, material, size, color code, package etc. Send all these requirements to manufacturers and ask for their feedback and promise on all these points. You should put pressure on the manufacturers and ensure that all your requirements and standard are respected and followed during mass production.

Anyway, for makeup brushes, if the preproduction samples are perfect, the mass production quality will also be perfect, as long as the factory has standard production and inspection system and process. Therefore, ask for preproduction samples is very necessary and essential for customers.

Preproduction samples VS normal samples

Some customers may not be able to understand the meaning of preproduction samples. Pre-Production Sample is the term that is given to the first few pieces created prior to the final production run.

In many other fields, the preproduction samples are the same as normal samples, but for makeup brush industry, these two terms are totally different. The reason is that makeup brush quality is mainly decided by material. If the material is not perfect, the brush will never be perfect. Therefore, to get exactly known of the makeup brushes you order, you should require preproduction samples instead of normal samples.

While to get preproduction samples, customers must firstly place orders or arrange prepayment, so that the makeup brush manufacturers can prepare material and productions accordingly. Therefore, most customers do not want to take a risk to pay so much without ensuring the brush quality, and then require to order some samples first to check the quality and size etc.

But the problem is such samples can not reveal the exact quality of the mass production. For example, customers want to order a powder brush with ZGF goat hair, so they require a sample, then the makeup brush manufacturer produce a sample with the ZGF goat hair in their stock. When getting customer’s approval on the samples, manufacturer will need to order new ZGF goat hair from their suppliers, but such ZGF goat hair will not be the same as the sample hair, as the goat hair will not have the same quality in all seasons, just like our human hairs, the hair in summer will be greatly different from that in winter.

Also, for makeup brush industry, it is very complex to make normal samples, and the samples usually will not as perfect as the brushes from mass production. The reason is that samples will not be manufactured through normal and formal process. For example, the formal process of makeup brush handle shaping is very complex and need a lot of time, so such process require enough quantity. If only one handle, it is impossible to pay so much to do all process, therefore the quality will certainly not as good as mass production. That is why most customers will find that the brushes they received are much better than the samples.

But preproduction samples will not have all above problems. After getting customer’s order or prepayment, the manufacturer will firstly order all materials, and after getting all materials, we will then make the preproduction samples. In this case, all material of preproduction samples will be exactly the same as batch production. Also, we will shape all hairs/ferrules/handles together, so their process will be totally the same as the batch production.

Also, preproduction samples can save a lot of time for customers. As to make samples, we need to order new material for the samples, and then manufacture the samples, the lead time is about 20 days which is almost the same as mass production; but preproduction samples can save so long time. The most important is that the pre production samples can exactly show the quality level of the mass production.

For the customer’s risk- pay so much without ensuring the brush quality, in fact, as long as customers have clear idea on the brushes they want, it will not be a problem. As we will not start mass production without getting customers’ approval on the preproduction samples. Therefore, it will not be a risk if the makeup brush manufacturer is reliable and professional enough.

The painting smell of makeup brushes

Some customers will find that some brushes will have painting smell and are very worried about this smell. In fact, no need to worry about this, this smell is just beccause the handle painting is not completely dry; just put the brushes at cool and ventilate place for several days, the smell will disappear.

 

Some may wonder how this smell exists or why the painting can not be completely dried. Here, we would like to explain as following:

 

During custom makeup brushes, customers and the makeup brush manufacturers will reach a agreement on the price, lead time, payment terms etc. After everything is confirmed, customers will place orders to the makeup brush manufacturers to arrange production.

 

However, due to some reason, customers may require urgent delivery which is shorter than normal lead time. Although we should follow the normal production process, to support customers, we will certainly try our best to meet the delivery date, but if so, we will have no enough time for the painting drying. Or, due to the continous rainy days in our location, the painting will also not be able to dry as sunny days.

 

Although we will use big fans in our workshop to speed up the drying process, that will not help too much in rainy days.

 

In a word, the painting smell is caused by shorter drying time or rainy weather.

 

It will not affect the quality at all, and such smell will disappear after the painting is completely dry. If customers immediately open the packages after getting the shipment and store them at cool and ventilate place, the smell will disappera in several days.

 

If customers can not accept such smell, we will have to leave several more days to wait for the painting drying, so maybe can not meet customer’s urgent delivery requirement. After all, such process can not be controlled by human beings. We hope to get understanding from all customers on this situation.

 

The process for freight collect shipment via DHL/FEDEX/UPS

After the production is finished, the makeup brush factory need to send the shipment to the customers. Usually, the trade terms is FOB or EXW, so customers need to pay the shipping charge.  If ship via DHL/FEDEX/UPS, the charge of freight collect is much more higher than prepaid. There are two ways to save the cost, one way is that customers pay the shipping charge to the makeup brush supplier and then the supplier pay the DHL/FEDEX/UPS; the other is customers reach agreement with their local DHL/FEDEX/UPS and get special discount on the charge of feight collect.

 

When the production is finished and available for pickup. The makeup brush manufacturer should send detailed package information to customers, which includes total weight, total dimension, carton size, carton numbers etc, as well as the detailed pickup address.

 

Then customers will forward such information to their local DHL/FEDEX/UPS to get quotation and arrange the pickup. After everything is confirmed, the customer’s local DHL/FEDEX/UPS will input such information in their global system and instruct the pickup from the manufacturer. It will then generate a control number in the system.

 

After the manufacturer’s local DHL/FEDEX/UPS receive the instruction, they will contact the manufacturer to check all information and will tell the manufacturer of the control number. The manufacturer can call any customer service of DHL/FEDEX/UPS to arrange the pickup by such control number.

 

The most important thing is the consistency of information from both sides. If customer’s local DHL/FEDEX/UPS input wrong information in their system, for example, the pickup address or payer is not correct, or the carton number or weight is not the same as the actual situation, any inconsistency will hold the shipment.The manufacturer’s local DHL/FEDEX/UPS will never pickup the packages unless all information is consistant with that in their system. Therefore, to save time of both sides, manufacturers should ensure that the information they send customers is totally the same as the actual situation, customers also should ensure that they do forward the original information to their local DHL/FEDEX/UPS and ensure that the DHL/FEDEX/UPS staff do input the right information to their system.

 

If all information is consistant, the DHL/FEDEX/UPS will arrange the pickup ASAP, and the manufactures only need to follow their instructions.

 

 

The rainy day delays our delivery

Recently, most area of China have rainstorms and great temperature drop, especially in our location. The rainy day has greatly affects our production schedule.

 

The one who is familiar with makeup brush production must know that weather has great affects on the production process. The main reason is the humid environment is bad for painting and logo drying.

 

To customize makeup brushes from us, most customers have their own requirements on the handle color, and also require their own logo to be printed on the handle. Therefore, we need to paint the handles to the required color, and after the handle becomes completely dry, we can then print the logo on the handle, and only after the logo also completely dry, we can do the assemble.

 

The drying of painting and logo are mostly depends on the weather, in the sunny and dry days, this process can be finished quickly, while in moist and cool days, it will need much more days. Although the makeup brush manufacturer can also use big electric fans to speed up the airflow, it can not help too much in moist day.

 

Therefore, if we meet continue rainy day during the production, it must will delay the production. For example, our normal production lead time is 30 days, although we have been in consideration of some rainy days in this period, if it rains for about 20 days or more, the production period must been more than 35 days. That is also why the lead time in summer is shorter than in winter.

 

To support customers, we always try best to meet the required delivery date, but if we delay several days due to the weather reason, we really hope to get understanding from customers, after all, we can not control any weather or environment factor.

 

 

The process to contact customers forwarder

No makeup brush factory has its own shipping company, so we need the professional forwarder to arrange the shipment for us. Sometimes, we can use our own forwarder, but sometimes, customers will require us to ship the goods via their own forwarder in China. Of course, using our own forwarder will be better for us, using customer’s forwarder will be more beneficial for customers.

 

The operation with our own forwarder is very easy and we can direct the whole process, but with customer’s forwarder, we should follow their instruction to prepare everything they required. Here we would like to introduce the process to arrange the shipment with customer’s forwarder.

 

After the production is finished and all packages are available for shipment, we need to contact the forwarder-customers usually will list their forwarders’ contact information in the order. Then the forwarder will send us a order form with their company template, which will need us to fill in the  detailed information of shipper, consignee etc, and also the description of goods, the dimension, gross weight, number of packages and Marks etc; after getting these information, the forwarder begin to book space for the shipment, and then send a Jincang notice to us together with the warehouse map, so that we can ensure to send the goods into correct warehouse. If you do not send the packages to the warehouse by yourselves but by shipping company, you should write the Jincang number on the waybill, otherwise, the shipping company will not be able to enter into the warehouse. Also, if you need the forwarder to declare at the customs, you should also send all related documents to the forwarder.

 

Then the forwarder will arrange everything for you. If it is FOB terms, they will send you the list of all fees you need to pay them. After customs declaration and the shipment is successfully released from customs,the forwarder will send you a B/L for your confirmation, so that they can confirm with the shipping compay, after getting confirmation, the shipping company will issue the official B/L.

 

Also, before the shipment reaching destination, the forwarder will send you a document to confirm if the B/L is telex release or original B/L. If you have got all payment from customers, it is usually telex release, then you will need to sign a document to declare that you will take all responsibility to such telex release.

 

After the shipments reach the destination, customers may need to do the customs clearance, you will need to support customers if necessary, such as send the invoice and packing list etc.

 

Even we need to ship via customers’ forwarders, it is also not complex, we just need to follow their each instruction, and prepare all documents carefully, then there should be no problem.

 

 

Racoon hair fpr makeup brushes

We usually use goat hair for large brushes such as powder and blush brushes, pony hair or sable hair for small brushes such as eyeshadow brush and blending brush. Here we would like to introduce another kind of hair material, called racoon hair

Greyish , brown tail hair from mammal found in North America . Is very soft and has execellent springback. The double toned hair is generally used for high -grade makeup brushes.

Mostly, the racoon hair is used in fan brush, the hair is very soft and can sweep extra powders. The racoon hair is rather expensive, therefore, due to cost consideration, normal brushes will not choose racoon hair.

Some may wonder how expensive the racoon hair is. Well, most users are very familiar with pony hair, the price of racoon hair is about 4 times of pony hair. So it is much better than pony hair. However, racoon hair is not as good as sable hair.

To save cost, even some high grade makeup brushes will not use racoon hair for all brushes, they will use racoon hair only for small brushes such as eye brushes and blending brushes. For the large brushes, they will use goat hair instead.

Some customers would like to custom makeup brush set with all racoon hair, that is totally no problem. However, we hope customers can understand that the price will be rather high, especially the large brushes which will in need of a lot of hairs. Some customers do not know the racoon hair well enough, so they require racoon hair due to the good quality, but after getting quotation, they can not understand why the makeup brush manufacturer quote so high price, and do not trust the makeup brush manufacturer any more.

Customers should know that real racoon hair is rather expensive, there is imitated racoon hair in the market, which is much chaper than real racoon hair. If you require makeu brushes with racoon hair, and get very cheaper price, be careful that must be imitaed racoon hair.

No change without customers’ request

Being a makeup brush manufacturer who is specializing in customizing makeup brushes, we should do everything according to customer’s instruction.

 

If customers do not request any change on the brush, we should ensure the second batch is totally the same as the first batch.

 

The reason to mention this is because recently we found a problem during our quarter checking.

 

We have produced some brushes for a customer for two years, they always order the frequent items, so we clearly know their each requirements. One of our sales directs all affairs of the customer from the very beginning, so we believed there must be no problem on the order of this customer.

 

However, during our quarter checking, we found a serious problem. The logo of the first batch is horizontal but all the following batch is vertical. Although the customer did not found this problem and had no complaint, we still need to investigate and affix the responsibility for this issue.

 

Finally, we found the reason: the brush is originally designed to be placed vertically, so the sales believe it will be better to have the logo also to be vertical. Therefore, he let the printing factory to change the logo from horizontal to vertical.

 

We immediately wrote a email to the customer to feedback such problem, although the customer also believe vertical will be better, we sincerely apologize for this problem and promised no such issue would appear again. We also seriously educated and train the sales to let him know he can not change anything without customer’s request.

 

Although sometimes we may be more professional than some customers, but we should never change anything withou request.

 

If we do have some good suggestions and want to offer better brush to customer, we should firstly feedback to customer and get customer’s confirmation on this suggestion.

 

The partial shipment of makeup brushes

We are often required to expedite the shipment from customers who are in urgent need of the brushes or have their inventory sold out. Some may just need a part of the brushes to meet the demands of their clients. For example, they place a order for 1000 brush sets, but currently they have sold all stocked products out and need 100 sets to supplement their inventory. Then they will require the makeup brush manufacturers for partial shipment.

 

However, makeup brush production does not like other industry, partial shipment is meaningless.

 

The production process of makeup brushes is :

 

1.       We firstly need to order material from suppliers, the lead time of the material is not decided by us, so this period is fixed;

2.       After getting material, we shape the material to required shape and size;

3.       then do the painting and logo printing and waiting for the painting dried, this period also decided by weather not us.

4.       after all parts-hair/ferrule/handle being ready and the painting dried, we then finally assemble all parts together.

 

Therefore, the time we can control is only process 4, and no matter what is the quantity,the time to assemble all parts only takes 1-3 days, so the lead time of 100pcs is almost the same as 50000pcs (the time difference is just 2 days). So it is meaningless for partial shipment.

 

We know sometimes customers may have urgent demand on the makeup brushes during customizing makeup brushes. We will try our best to give priority to urgent order, but our best lead time is 30 days. We hope to get understanding from all customers.

 

 

About our bank account

Yesterday, we got an email from a customer who told us that they have transferred the payment and can not pay again to the western union account. We are really puzzled and can not understand what is the meaning of the customer. Therefore, we read the emails between the customer and “us” (sales@tmakeupbrushes.com), and surprisely find that “we” (sales@tmakeupbrushes.com) once sent an email to the customer and require customer to pay to another account.

 

The email is as the below:

Please note that i am currently having issues with my bank concerning loan financing from a sister company and we will have problem getting money from the account in the Proforma Invoice. 

 

Please do well to revert the wire payment instruction if you have already done so. Find attached, a revised Proforma Invoice with Western Union details to serve as interim solution to problem we currently have.

 

We are really shocked, we never sent this email to the customer, and we never have any problem on our bank account. We know that our email must be hacked!

 

Finally, we find that the ID of the hacker is from Nigeria, this ID may be from a Proxy Server, so it is really hard to track and locate the hacker. Also. the hacker has filtered the email address of the customer, so we are not able to receive the email from the customer.

 

Fortunately, the customer promised to arrange the payment on Monday, so the hacker send the above email on Saturday. But to expedite the shipment, the customer transfer the payment on Friday and cannot get it back.

 

Fortunately, the customer know our alternative email, without getting our any reply, they send email to our alternative email for checking. Otherwise, the customer must think we are cheating them, besides the money loss, it will greatly affect our future cooperation.

Workmanship is more important than material

We know that makeup brush quality includes the material and workmanship. Material decides the touching feeling and comfort level, while workmanship affects the visual perception. Both are very important to the users.

 

Some users care much more on the material, but in fact, workmanship is sometime more important than material. After all, the makeup brush is a kind of beauty products, some customers care the visual perception very much.

 

For example, some makeup brush manufacturers use top grade material on the brushes, such as ZGF goat hair and copper ferrule, and quote very high price to the customers. Although the customers think the price is really higher, but they believe they will get great quality with such price. Therefore, they place orders to the makeup brush manufacturer and then are looking forward to perfect brushes. However, after unpacking, they are shocked by the bad quality. Yes, the brushes have great touching feeling and are very comfortable. But how poor the workmanship is! There are obvious glue hints on the ferrule and handle, many hairs falling down during application, the joints of ferrule and handle have distinct gap and hairs exposed from the joint, the hairs has heavy smell….

 

The customers must be angry since they pay so much on the brushes. No matter how great the material is, the brush just look like low grade products, and it is impossible to sell high price.

 

Also, even with relatively lower grade material, if the workmanship is perfect, no any flaw, the brush will look like great high grade product and can certainly sell much higher price.

 

In this case, workmanship is much more important than material. No person will care yourinner qualities when you have ugly apperance. This principle also apply to makeup brushes. No users will care the material of the brushes with ugly and dirty apperance.

 

If you are not satisfied with samples

Sample evaluation/checking is a essential step during custom makeup brushes. By sample evaluation, customers can check if the makeup brush manufacturers can meet their quality requirement, and if the brush is exactly what they need.

 

Some customers would like to place order first and then require the makeup brush factory to send samples for confirmation before mass production. In this case, the sample is free, and the shipping charge is paid by customers. If customers are not satisfied with the samples quality, as a professional makeup brush manufacturer, we will make new samples until the customers are satisfied with everything. In this condition, we will afford all related fee to make new samples, including the shipping charge by ourselves. As it is really our responsibility to offer satisfied samples to customers before mass production.

 

While some customers prefer paying samples first, and will not place orders until they get satisfied samples. So they firstly pay USD180 for example to require customers to send them samples. The USD180.0 may also include the shipping charge to their office. If they are not satisfied with the samples due to the color, quality, logo etc, they may be not willing to place orders to us. To retain the customers, we will offer customers a proposal that we can make new samples for them and afford all related cost including the shipping charge to customers.

 

In fact, few customers will be satisfied with the first sample, as the word description may not so exact, and the makeup brush factory may have some misunderstanding on customers’ requirements, so it is usual that the first samples are not perfect. on this occasion, customers should firstly contact the factory and point out the problem of the samples, and then require the factory to offer new samples.

 

Please do not hastily give up once getting the unsatisfied samples, after all, you have paid some money for the samples, it is a pity to give up or transfer to another factory at this very beginning. Please help to communicate with us once you are not satisfied with our samples, we will do everything we can do to offer you satisfied samples.

 

Do not compare makeup brush price in long time span

We know that it is not the first time for most customers to buy makeup brushes from chinese makeup brush manufacturers. Some must have been in this field for many years and have cooperated with many worldwide makeup brush factories for many years. So they can estimate the rough price range of the brushes they need even if no manufacturer can offer the exactly same price with the others.

 

Even those customers who just step into the makeup brush industry will also send their inquiries to manufacturers as many as they can, so that they can compare the price between different suppliers and try to find the best one from them.

 

We can understand that customers need to compare price between different suppliers to have a rough idea on the price system of the makeup brushes. However, such comparation should be in the same period. It will be the best if the time span can be shorter than one month. That is, customers send same inquiry to many suppliers in early 2013 March, and get all quotation within one month, then they can compare all quotation.

 

If the time span is too long, such comparation will be meaningless, as the price must have great difference. For example, one customer sends us an inquiry for our quotation, and we quote our best price according to their drawings and samples, but they are surprised by our price and said our price is double of their previous supplier. The fact is their last order was placed in 2011 Jan, so they can get great price from their previous supplier. However, when they want to order again from that supplier this month, the supplier increases the price a lot, otherwise, the supplier will not accept this order. Therefore, they try to find another supplier who can offer the same price as they get in 2011. Of course, now they will not be able to get the same quality brush with such price.

 

The makeup brush manufacturers will know that the cost has increased a lot comparing with 2011. The increase of all cost such as material cost, labor cost and other operation cost, have decided the price trend of the makeup brushes.

 

Therefore, customers should not compare the current price with that in 2011. In fact, the price will change even within one month due to the mateial cost change. That is why the valid period of our quotation is 30 days.
