 Besides brush bags, some customers also require outer box for each brush or set to have further design and brand information.

Makeup brush handles and brush bags have limit space for logo design, also, due to material limit, the printing on makeup brushes and bags cannot have too complex design and colors. It really makes some customers feel not so good.

This can be resolved by an outer package/box. The material of the outer package is usually folding paper carton which can be printed any color or picture. The material of the outer packaging- folding carton is soft and no harm to human body.

Retractable mechanism on makeup brush

 Retractable brush is the most special makeup brush. It is true that kabuki brush is also special since it only has two parts instead of three. But retractable brush is much complex and special due to its retractable mechanism.

Usually, retractable makeup brushes have following types of retractable mechanisms:

1. The makeup brush has 3 parts: body + brush head + cap. There is a side lever in the brush body, the brush extends and retracts by the side lever. This is the most common mechanism and can even be used on large powder brushes. With such mechanism, the brush hair can be kept in good shape and the cap can keep the brush away from dust and dirt.


2.  The brush only has 2 parts: the body and brush head, no cap but a close seal. The mechanism works in the same way as the first type, just no cap, the close seal part protec the brush hair from dust and dirts.

3.  The brush has 3 parts: the body, brush head and the cap. But the mechanism is different from the first one. No side lever on the body, the brush extends and retracts by pushing or turning the body. Such mechanism is more complex and the cost will be higher.

4.   The brush only has 2 parts: the body and hair head. No side lever on the body, no cap either. But there is a door closing the brush inside after retraction. This mechanism is the most popular type now. And it just suits the small brushes like eyeliner brush and lip brush. For large brush like eyeshadow brush, such mechanism will not work well due to the big hair head.

If not satisfied with makeup brushes

 Before mass production, we send pre-production samples for customers’ confirmation, and after getting sample approval from customers, we start mass production. But some customers change their ideas after confirming the samples or even after getting the mass shipments. How to negotiate on MOQ

 What is negotiation? According to Wikipedia: negotiation is a process where each party involved in negotiating tries to gain an advantage for themselves by the end of the process. Negotiation is intended to aim at compromise. So, during negotiation, both parties should let the other party know your target and what you need, and then do the negotiation accordingly.

For makeup brushes, the most common topic is MOQ. We have explained our MOQ and why we have MOQ requirements in previous articles. Some customers just disappear after knowing our MOQ or tell us that it is no necessary for further discussion since they cannot meet our MOQ.

In fact, it is really unwise to give up at such early step. Customers must have sent inquiry to many makeup brush manufacturers for one enquiry; they believe it is no necessary for further discussion with those suppliers who cannot offer the best condition at the very beginning. But, without any information on customers or situation, it is hard for any makeup brush factory to offer the best condition or terms at the very beginning. After receiving any inquiry on makeup brushes, we always ask customers about demand quantity, but only get reply like: please just let us know your MOQ.

It will be the best if customers can firstly tell makeup brush manufacturers about their order quantity, then the manufacturer can check if they can do such quantity. The deposit/prepayment of makeup brush order

 All makeup brush manufacturers will require deposit for makeup brush orders. Only after getting deposit, we can order material and start production. It is a regulation in makeup brush industry.  If customers do not agree to pay deposit, we have to give up the orders.

Some customers cannot understand such regulation, from their side, it is unfair to pay without receiving products. They believe their official order is enough for the makeup brush manufacturers to arrange brush production. But for manufacturers, we have met some customers who have placed orders but finally cancel the orders; we have ordered & paid the raw material, and the production is almost finished, but the order is cancelled, we have to afford all cost and loss by ourselves… If such issue happens twice a year, we have to close down the factory.

As for the deposit percentage, some makeup brush manufacturers require 30%, some may require 50% or more. 30% is the least, if less than 30%, the deposit will be somewhat meaningless. For normal makeup brush sets, we can agree with 30%-50% deposit, as even if customers unfortunately cancel the order, the material can be used for other orders; but for single brushes with large order quantity, we will require at least 50% deposit, as if unfortunately the customers cancel the order, the material will become useless. One of our competitors once met a customer who ordered a single brush with huge quantity, and they also have arranged 30% deposit, but when the production is almost finished, they cancelled the order and declared that they no longer needed the brushes or deposit. But the fact is they immediately asked their Chinese agent to recycle the brushes from the manufacturer with extremely low price. Since the brushes have become useless for the manufacturer, they have to sell the brush to the agent even at great loss. Therefore, the customer finally gets the same brush with much lower price even if they give up the deposit. With such lesson, the makeup brush manufacturers get know that the order of single brushes has more risks.

► Samples before order & Pre-production samples before mass production-After confirmation of all details with customers, we firstly produce samples for customers’ evaluation. As all previous discussion via drawings & description is just for better understanding on brush design theory, to finalize the brushes, physical sample is a must before order, so that customers can really check if the makeup brushes meet all requirements and purpose. If customers confirm samples and place orders, we will firstly order materials and make pre-production samples for customers’ approval, as there may be slight difference between previous samples and mass order samples on color, raw material etc. We will not start production without customers’ approval.
