If customers are not satisfied with brushes

Although we always send samples for customers’ confirmation before mass production, sometimes, customers are still unsatisfied with the brushes maybe on quality or package or color, and require support of the makeup brush manufacturer.

In fact, if the brushes are the same as samples which are confirmed by customers, it is not the responsibility of makeup brush manufacturer even if the customers are not satisfied. However, considering long term cooperation, and as professional and responsible makeup brush manufacturers, we always try our best to support our customers to resolve any problem.

If customers are not satisfied with the brushes, they should feedback to the makeup brush manufacturer once receive the brushes. As the makeup brush manufacturer may still have some material in stock at that time and can immediately send replacements to customers. But if customers feedback the situation after 1 month or even longer, it is really hard for the brush manufacturer to resolve the problem.

Recently, a customer sends us an email to require urgent support. They ordered brushes from us in last June, and after getting the shipment, they said they were very satisfied with everything. However, now they said one of their customers was not satisfied with the case color and would like to have 30 replacements. Since it has been more than half an year, it is really hard for us to send some replacements, as the material has been used up; if order new material, we have to order material for 500pcs at one time, it is really not cost-effective.

Anyway, we are still trying to solve the problem for customers. Hope we can find out a good way to support our customers immediately.

Just hope that customers can be more careful in sample confirmation and can feedback any question ASAP once getting the shipments.

Adobe Illustrator in makeup brush industry

In international business, customers and suppliers are from different countries, and their English level also differs, so sometimes they may not able to understand or misunderstand each other which may cause bad consequence in the business.

For example, a customer would like to print his logo on the brush bag. He has got known the bag size from the makeup brush manufacturer and clearly knows his own requirement. So he tries to express his requirement to the makeup brush manufacturer, just like this: the logo color should be black, size is 30mm*40mm, and the logo should be in the middle of the bag…

The makeup brush manufacturer will be puzzled after getting such information: what position can be called middle? The logo should be horizontal or vertical? What is the space between characters...? After a long time communication, they may still be able to not understand the exact requirement of the customer. It is really the limit of words.

The problem can be easily solved by adobe illustrator. The customer can design and specify all location and size on the AI, then send the file to the makeup brush manufacturer, if the AI file is too big, customer can also transfer the file to pdf file, the makeup brush manufacturer can use AI to open the PDF file and see all design, size and location.

Picture is always more direct and easier to understand than words, even if you can not read English, you will get all information from the pictures.

Therefore, during custom makeup brushes, we really hope that our customers can use AI to design their logo and then directly send the file to us. That will ensure everything go on well.

The retractable mechanism on makeup brush

If I am asked about which brush type is the most special? I must say retractable brush. It is true that kabuki brush is also special since it is only have two parts instead of three. But, retractable brush is much complex and different due to its retractable mechanism.

Usually, there are following types of retractable mechanisms for makeup brushes:

1.       The brush has 3 parts: the body, hair head and the cap. There is a side lever on the brush body, the brush extends and retracts by the side lever. This is the most common mechanism and can even be used on large powder brushes. With such mechanism, the brush hair can be kept in good shape and the cap can keep the brush away from dust and dirt.

2.       The brush only has 2 parts: the body and hair head, no cap. The mechanism works in the same way as the first type. Such mechanism will save some cost, and can also prevent some dust and dirt, but the brush is still easy to become dirty.

3.       The brush has 3 parts: the body, hair head and the cap. But the mechanism is different from the first one. No side lever on the body, the brush extends and retracts by pushing or turning the body. Such mechanism is more complex and the cost will be higher.

4.       The brush only has 2 parts: the body and hair head. No side lever on the body, no cap either. But there is a door closing the brush inside after retraction. This mechanism is the most complex and expensive. And it just suits the small brushes like eyeliner brush and lip brush. For a little large brush like eyeshadow brush, such mechanism will not work well due to the big hair head.

During custom makeup brushes, many customers will have their own design on the brushes, it is totally no problem for normal makeup brushes, but for retractable brushes, if you have your special design or requirement, please firstly communicate and confirm with your makeup brush manufacturer, as the mechanism is complex and does not suit all brushes.

Some customers also wonder about the lifetime of the mechanism. Well, we do not calculate or research on this, but we do ensure that the mechanism will not fail even if the brushes have been broken.

Print barcode on outer package

As previously mentioned, some customers would like to have an outer packaging for brushes during custom makeup brushes. And for those customers who aim to sell their brushes to supermarkets or beauty shops, they will also require their barcode# printed on the outer box for easy recognition on computer.

All of us must be familiar with the barcode since we buy goods from supermarkets everyday, so I believe I need not repeat its function or any related thing any more. What I want to talk here is the barcode on the brush package.

If customers want to have their barcode on the package, they need to send their barcode number and required size to the package designer. The barcode size should include the whole length*height size, as well as the length of the shortest bar and longest bar. After getting the barcode# and size, the designer will leave proper space for the barcode in the whole package design.

If customers have no specific designer, they can also require their makeup brush manufacturer to help with this issue. But customers should ensure that they express themselves clearly on the requirements in case of any misunderstanding.

Printing the barcode on package is very easy. After getting the package design, the makeup brush manufacturer just needs to print the whole design together, no need to print the barcode separately. So there will be also no extra charge to print the barcode on the packages.

The outer package/ color box for makeup brushes and sets

Besides of the brush bag, some customers will also require an outer packaging for each brush or set to have further design and brand information.

The brush handles and brush bags only have limit space for logo design, also, due to the material limit, the logo on the brushes and bags can not have too complex design and colors. It really makes some customers feel not so good.

The problem can be resolved by an outer package. The material of the outer package is usually folding carton which can be printed any color or picture. Customers can fully use their imagination to design interesting and active logo or brand, so that all users can easily remember the brand by this vivid design. Customers can also have their barcode on the outer package. The material of the outer packaging- folding carton is soft and no harm to human body.

However, before designing, customers should ask the makeup brush manufacturer about the size of the outer packaging, and then design everything including barcode according to the size. Usually, the packaging size will be almost the same as the brush bag size, just a little bit larger.

The cost of each packaging including printing will be about USD0.2-0.4. So some customers will not consider such packaging due to cost control. Even some famous brands like Sigma and Bobbi Brown will use such packaging only for some single brush or brush sets. For single brushes, such packaging is usually used on KABUKI brushes.

If customers are interested in or require such outer packaging, please let us know during custom makeup brushes, we will pack the brushes or sets into such packaging for customers before shipment.

Customers and suppliers should understand each other once any problem occurs

Few customers really believe they are superior to suppliers since they are the one who pay the money. It is true that customer is god, while sometimes, customers should try best to understand the situation of suppliers.

 

Recently, a customer sent us an email to require us to replace some packs. In fact, the packs are in good situation before shipment, and after a 45 days sea shipment, the packs become damaged. Our terms is FOB instead of CIF, so theoretically, we should not afford the cost of such damage during the sea shipment. However, considering our customer’s situation, we agree to send them replacements without hesitation just require customer to afford the shipping charge.

 

It is surprised that the customer becomes very angry and insist that the packs are damaged before shipment. It is really unreasonable, we have strict inspection system before shipment, such situation will never happen. We are professional makeup brush manufacturer and have been in this area for more than 10 years, we never cheat customers at any situation.

 

The customer was so angry and said we should never expect them to pay the shipping charge, and said that they would never do business with us although our brush quality is very good and sell well.

 

In fact, the shipping charge is just less than USD100.0, we do have the ability to pay the shipping charge, what we can not accept is unreasonable compromise.

 

We believe that customers and suppliers should be on the equal position; it is true that customers pay the money, but suppliers also supply goods and service.

Many customers will require logo printing on their makeup brushes and cases, while some of them do not know how to make the logo, so they send their requirements on the logo to the makeup brush manufacturer and require the makeup brush manufacturer to make logo for them.

 

However, most Chinese makeup brush manufacturers are very small workshop, they have no ability to make or design logo for customers. Therefore, too complex logo design will be very a big problem during custom makeup brushes.

 

To simplify the logo issue and save time, it is best that customers can offer their exact logo as picture file; as it is hard for the makeup brush manufacturer to 100% understand customers’ exact demand just through description. Only customers know their demand on the logo, and they can communicate with their local logo designer to make everything clear. After finished the logo design, customers can send their exact logo as picture file to the makeup brush manufacturer, then the makeup brush factory just need to print the logo on the brushes and cases according to the logo file.

 

In fact, too complex logo design will not help the brand promotion. Most big brands will only have their company name or abbreviation on the brush handle and case. If a logo contains too many colors and patterns, the logo charge will be very expensive, and it is hard for customers to remember such logo or company. Simple logo will help the customers to remember such brand easily and also can expedite the brush production.
