The mold for makeup brush hairs and ferrules

If customers want to customize makeup brushes with their special design, they will know that the makeup brush manufacturers need to develop molds for plastic handles. But if they do not require plastic handles but wooden handle or mental handle, some will believe that no mold is needed during production.

It is really a misunderstanding. If customers have their own design on the makeup brushes, or if the makeup brushes have special design on the shape and size, the manufacturers will need to develop molds for each part- hair, ferrule and handle.

For hairs, if customers require special shape for the brush heads, the manufacturers will need to develop a certain mold and insert the hairs into the mold to reach required shape. The hair mold is usually plastic, and as it is very small, the mold fee is not too high.

For ferrules, if the ferrule shape and size are not the same as normal, the manufacturers also need to develop mold for it. Otherwise, it is impossible to ensure that each ferrule will reach required shape and size. The ferrule mold is usually metal, so is expensive than hair mold.

For plastic handles, no need to repeat again, mold is essential. For wooden handles, also need certain mold to ensure shape and size.

Most customers do not realize the molds for hairs and ferrules, that is because the makeup brush manufacturers usually do not additionally charge the mold for hairs and ferrules, they usually include the molding fee into the whole cost, and then share to each brush.

Also due to the low cost, the molds for hairs and ferrules are easy to break or damage. Therefore, if customers place repeat orders for a makeup brush, after long time usage and damage, the mold may be broken, and require new mold for it.

The mold of makeup brush handles

For many customers who want to custom makeup brushes from makeup brush factory, the plastic handle is really a great problem. As the plastic handle may need to open new mold, and the molding fee is very high, some may reach thousands of dollars. The margin of makeup brushes is very low; so many customers really prefer not opening new mold if they can.

 

Due to this, to attract more customers and establish long time cooperation, we pay a lot of money to open many molds from our mold suppliers, so that if customers have similar handle dimension, they will no need to pay for the molds.

 

However, to custom makeup brushes, the dimension will differ from one to one, so many times our existing size may not meet customer requirements. At this time, customers have to pay the molding fees.

 

We are just a makeup brush manufacturer who specialized in makeup brush manufacturing, we have no molding factory. Therefore, if really need to open new mold, we will inquiry from molding supplier and then directly quote to customers, we will not add any margin on the molds. If customers think our molding fee is too high, they can also open mold by themselves, or even offer handles to us.

These days, I have been communicating with a Bulgarian company who is the manufacturer of decorative makeup products and they need little brushes (mini brushes) to put in their blush box. They just told us that they prefer the blush brush with half-moon handle, so I send a type of existing brush which may meet their requirements for their confirmation.

 

Some information of the brush is as follows:

We also send them the picture and quotation for their confirmation.

 

The next day, we got their reply and they us send their blush box picture, unfortunately the blush box diameter is 40mm, so the brush size must less than 40mm, that means that our existing brush is not ok for their box, so the only solution is to open a new mould for the brush handle.

 

Then we sent them the quotation of molding fee for their confirmation. Generally the molding fee should be afforded by the customers who want to custom makeup brushes, while if the following order quantity is big enough, we, as a chinese makeup brush manufacturer for tens years, can somewhat reduce or cut the molding fees.

A makeup brush has three parts: hair, ferrule and handle.

 

Only the handle, and only plastic handle, needs to open mold, other makeup brush parts, or handles that not made of plastic, do not need mould.

Till now, we have had hundreds of plastic handle molds, if customer prefers the existing handles, there will no longer to open new mold.

 

While if customers prefer custom makeup brush handles (plastic handles), we will contact the mold factory after confirming customer requirements, then start opening mould.

 

After getting the plastic handle, we will assembly some makeup brush samples for customer confirmation. Only after getting customer approval, we can start the makeup brushes production.
