Many makeup brush manufacturers adopt dipping coating for wooden makeup brush handles, yet some often suffer dense air pores that greatly reduce appearance pass rate. Below are the root causes of pores during dipping process.

Trapped moisture and air inside wood substrate (main cause)
1. Timber without sufficient drying retains high moisture. When dipped into coating and heated, internal water turns into steam, bursting through the paint film and creating pinholes.2. Tiny air is trapped in wood grain gaps and turning scratches during dipping; the sealed paint locks air and leaves pores after curing.
3. Unremoved wood dust covers the handle surface and wraps air, forming pores after dipping.
Improper paint mixing & poor paint quality
1. Vigorous stirring introduces massive air bubbles. Dipping handles without defoaming resting time leaves bubbles on wood surface which turn into pores after drying.2. Incorrect thinner matching: fast-dry thinner used under high temperature leads to rapid surface skinning, trapping internal solvent vapor.
3. Expired paint or coating with weak defoaming property generates continuous gas during film formation, causing dense pinholes.
Improper dipping operation
1. Too fast dipping speed traps air on the handle as it sinks into paint tank without time to release air gradually.2. Over-thick coating layer leads to uneven drying speed; solvent vapor from underlayer breaks the top film.
3. Insufficient dripping time before oven curing causes instant surface hardening and locked internal gas.
Workshop temperature & humidity
1. High workshop temperature accelerates solvent evaporation and traps air to form pores.2. High ambient humidity mixes water vapor into paint tank and attaches to wooden sticks to form tiny holes.
3. Excessively high or rapidly rising oven temperature makes internal wood steam expand violently and rupture the coating.
