About the MAC imitation and fakes in Chinese market

It is known that there are so many MAC imitation or fakes in Chinese market, maybe the same situation in other countries. The reason is MAC does not manufacture makeup brushes by themselves; they design their makeup brushes and logo, and send all detailed requirements to the Chinese makeup brush manufacturer. Therefore, the makeup brush factory who once manufactures brushes for MAC will have the MAC logo and design, which makes it easy to produce fakes which look exactly the same as MAC authentic brushes.

However, the fakes also vary in quality. Here we would like to introduce the MAC fakes in Chinese market.

1)      Extra stocks of MAC authentic brushes. That means the makeup brush factory officially produces brushes for MAC, but they produce more brushes and sell to Chinese market without MAC’s authorization. In this situation, those brushes can not be called fakes but a kind of tort, as the brushes are 100% the same as MAC authentic, the same quality, same material, same appearance, same logo, same packing and same barcode.

2)      Exact copy of MAC authentic brushes. Some makeup brush manufacturers have been in the makeup brush industry for many years and are very familiar with MAC brushes. So they can exact copy the MAC brushes, same quality, same material, same appearance, same logo and same packing even if they never produce brushes for MAC. However, they can exact copy all others but not barcode. As MAC barcode varies frequently, so if they have no MAC authentic samples with barcode on hand, they will not be able to exact copy the brushes. In this situation, even if the quality is the same as the MAC brushes, the fakes may be recognized by the professional users.

3)      Just fakes. That means the brushes are just logoed with MAC logo, but the quality are far away from MAC quality. Those bad manufacturers use inferior materials to produce makeup brushes but logoed MAC to cheat consumers. After getting the brushes, the consumers will see the obvious differences: poor workmanship, poor quality, and ugly appearance….just with MAC logo. It is the worst fakes, as the consumers may pay a lot but get very poor brushes.

Any imitation is infringement act and should be punished by law. But, for consumers, if they do not care about brand too much, the first two situations are acceptable if with prior notice from the suppliers, as the quality is the same as MAC authentic but price is much lower. After all, for ordinary consumer, MAC brushes are not affordable. But the fakes are the worst cheating, and will not only ruin MAC brushes but also hurt consumers.

This great advertisement push me stand in front of MAC counter, clearly look through all the makeup brushes. However I have been lazy for too long to recognize their function , eyeshadow brush , blush brush , lipstick brush and so on ,I usually only use liquid foundation and blush, and only know the difference in bristle quantity, length and shape, or sometimes I will consider if the makeup brushes are made of pony hair or something else.

 

Once I was crazy for a man Hong Kong makeup artist named Joseph, seeing that he coolly took various makeup brushes from a black makeup bags, and then applying in my face for several minutes, then I look much better. After that I impetuously buy a bunch of makeup including blush, lip gloss, eye shadow, eyeliner, powder, and of course a full set of makeup brushes (and buy the most expensive BB makeup brushes (Joseph is the makeup artist of BB). If can not find in China, I will ask friends to buy from Hong Kong, however, now all cosmetics and makeup brushes have been staying in my table for a long time.

 

My crazy to makeup only lasted six months, that time I got up early every day and use makeup brushes to makeup for half an hour. However, finally I give up.

Now I imagine that if I face the same choice, which should I choose? Brad Pitt or makeup brushes? I believe my answer will be makeup brushes, but with different reason.

As if I can not be beautiful in front of Brad Pitt, I would rather he never appear in front of me.

So I give up Brad Pitt and choose makeup brushes.

MAC makeup brushes VS BB makeup brushes

Generally speaking, MAC makeup brushes have the following advantages:
1. Various types, can offer many choices for customers
2. The handle length is more suitable. BB makeup brushes have long handle type and short handle type: the long handle type is more suitable to makeup for others, for self makeup, it is too long; the short handle type is very cute but too short. MAC makeup brush handle conforms to most peoples habit
3. Good elasticity. Comparatively speaking, BB makeup brushes are very soft, while MAC makeup brushes are better in elasticity, which is suitable for sharp makeup.


MAC makeup brushes also have the following disadvantages:
1. The appearance is not so luxurious as BB makeup brushes
2. The bristle is not so soft, of course it is compared with BB makeup. Although some MAC makeup brushes are really a little too stiff, most MAC makeup brushes are ok.
3. Too expensive
Most of BB makeup brushes are for daily use, so BB makeup brushes are more suitable for soft makeup. If your purpose to makeup is to make yourself more beautiful, to make eyes more shining, then BB makeup brushes will suit you. But if you want to try different styles, MAC makeup brushes will be your best choice.
