Best makeup for matte skin

Women can have oily sweaty summer skin even after the proper cleansing, priming, and applying a matte mineral foundation makeup product. Humidity, age, hormones, stress, heredity, exercise, environment, and lifestyle all play a factor in our skin type and how it reacts on a daily basis.

The best products to apply over any type of foundation makeup will be a mortifier without talc. Mineral Wear Finishing Veil by Physicians Formula, Matte Magic by EpiDermalogy Labs, Mineral Veil by Bare Escentuals aka bare minerals are all nice mineral makeup products that keep any foundation base makeup matte.

Before applying a mattifier you will first use an oil absorbent product either made specifically for this purpose, or a piece of toilet paper, Kleenex, or paper towel. Clean and Clear makes oil-absorbing sheets and similar products can be found in the accessories section of most drug stores at very reasonable pricing.

Once the excess oil and moisture are vanished from your skin, use a clean mineral makeup brush, Kabuki brush, double-sided flocked sponge to tap on the mineral powder mattifier products if necessary. Wisk face lightly to blend powder and you’re done.

Following the above steps to apply makeup for matte skin can be repeated if necessary throughout the day. Though all you may need is one application of the matte mineral makeup powders above in the morning.

Apply mineral makeup foundation

Mineral makeup may be the rage of the century, but loose powder mineral foundation application may be a hassle if the foundation product, makeup sponge, or makeup brush used are incorrect.
Viewing Id bareMinerals, and Sheer Cover Infomercials leads consumers to believe there isn’t another process of applying mineral makeup cosmetic foundation powders. However, if the powder foundation applications TV infomercials show were working, women purchasing mineral foundation would not be asking so many questions.
Nearly every makeup forum, blog, and mineral cosmetics company website on the internet has a listing of mineral foundation application tips. Most of these mineral foundation application opinions are from everyday consumers, it’s great they offer their how-to’s, but professional makeup artists are licensed to learn and practice makeup application techniques 24/7.
Makeup artists worldwide have direct answers on how to apply all types of makeup including mineral foundation makeup. With just a few easy steps mineral foundation makeup application will be flawless.
First remember loose powder mineral makeup is manufactured from different cosmetic companies so it will vary in texture, consistency, adhesion, density, and so forth. The less dense a product is the less likely it will be to adhere with one application. Thicker textures with higher pigment levels in mineral makeup products will result in stronger adhesion and longevity. Poor quality mineral foundation ingredients also lead to poor application. This is the same as for mineral blush, eye shadow, or eye liner powder.
Depending on which mineral foundation powder brand is used dictates to a makeup artist and consumer the correct avenue to choose when applying a mineral cosmetic foundation.
Basic application of loose powder mineral makeup foundation begins with a clean, natural, non-synthetic, makeup brush. Makeup artists prefer a small powder makeup brush with dense soft hairs to pick up the correct amount of powder mineral product.
The wrong makeup brush can lead to holes and tears in the skin as loose powder makeup products are applied. Please note: If delicate facial skin is abused, any type of foundation makeup product can cause staph or bacterial infections, acne, redness, and/or rosacea.  Avoidance of synthetic or harsh makeup brushes and unsanitary self-hygiene habits is extremely important for all makeup users to remember if they want flawless skin. Stop all cross contamination by keeping makeup application tools ultra clean.
Mineral makeup packaging is important it keeps powders fresh and sanitary. Following the below mineral foundation testing procedure below will alleviate powder application overdose.
The common container for mineral foundation powders is usually a cosmetic sifter jar. These mineral sifter jars are great for several reasons.
1.     Mineral makeup sifters allow the user to tap a small amount of product into the sifter jar lid.
2.     Mineral sifters prevent powder spillage. Prevent a mess
A note of caution; It’s smart to leaving the cosmetic sifter in the jar, tapping only a small amount of loose powder mineral foundation as needed into the cosmetic container lid.
Start with a normal mineral makeup foundation powder application method to determine how ingredients look on the skin. Applying mineral powder to the back of a hand is best for new mineral makeup users.
1.     Use a clean makeup sponge and pick up a small amount of product from foundation container lid.
2.     Tap off all excess loose powder on side of container lid. (avoid cross contamination, tap all excess powder into the cosmetic jar lid)
3.     Take foundation sponge and lightly tap mineral foundation from sponge onto back of hand.
4.     Softly sweep makeup sponge over the mineral foundation powder applied to back of hand.

Those are the first steps in testing the quality, texture, and adhesion of a powder mineral foundation makeup brand.

The mineral powder foundation should be smooth on the back of the hand not blotchy or sheer.

If the mineral foundation powder grabbed then either too much product was applied or the makeup brand may be inadequate. Test the skin area product grabbed to see how thick the powder was applied.  Please note that many women makeup users apply foundation products with a heavy hand; this produces a pasty mask face appearance, not the sought after naturally flawless airbrushes appearance.

Thinning an area where too much mineral foundation product has been applied is easy. Use the back side of the makeup sponge and swirl product out to edges of skin.

The mineral makeup foundation tips and application methods shown above allow consumers a method to test mineral makeup foundation samples in a safe inconspicuous place prior to testing on the delicate face.

How to apply mineral eyeshadow-2

Part 2 will show how use the foil, also known as, the wet method of applying loose powder mineral eye shadow. Other loose powder eye makeup such as M.A.C. Cosmetics eye shadow pigments can be foiled also.
Foiling loose powder eye makeup brings out the bold rich tones seen in the eye shadow container. In mineral makeup eye shadows, foiling enriches each color for a more dramatic effect as well as extending longevity. Mineral powder eye liners are always applied using the foil method.
Foiling, in makeup artist terms, simply means to blend a cosmetic mixing medium or water with the makeup powder for a paste consistency then apply with makeup applicator or brush to designated areas.
Steps to prepare mineral loose powder eyeshadow into paste are as follows:
1.     Find a small clean cosmetic container for mixing the loose powder product. The sifter jars lids that most mineral makeup brands use are perfect for foiling.
2.     Tap a small amount of loose mineral powder or other eye shadow powder into the mixing tray or lid.
3.     Add a small pin head size drop of mixing medium or water into the mixing container with the loose powder.
4.     With a firm makeup applicator or brush, stir mixing medium and mineral eye shadow powder together until a firm paste is formed. If an excessive amount of mixing medium was used, the formulation will appear more liquid, than paste. In this case add additional amounts of loose powder until desired consistency is achieved.
The 4 easy to follow steps above are all that is needed for a perfect foil eye shadow formula.
To apply the foiled eye shadow paste, a chisel or angled chisel makeup brush is perfect. Do not use a dense natural hair large or deluxe eye shadow brush as either utilizes too much paste for proper application.

Steps to apply mineral eyeshadow formulation are as follows:
1.     Gently swirl then tap lower side edges of eye shadow brush into colored paste formula.
2.     Remove any excess paste from the eye makeup brush by sliding brush side on mixing container edge.
3.     Using your eye shadow brush apply makeup paste mixture to designated eye lid area, using a soft tapping smoothing motion stroke as you would with normal pressed eye shadows.
4.    The eye shadow paste will dry instantly once applied.
5.    The final step of the foil mineral eye shadow application method involves using a small or large natural hair eye shadow brush to lightly blend colors on eye lid.
The foil method of applying mineral eye shadow loose powder or any loose powder eye makeup guarantees lasting, all-day color, as well as gorgeous dramatic eye lids.

How to apply mineral eyeshadow-1

Professional makeup artists know that dramatic rich colors are found in loose mineral eye shadow powders. Mineral makeup brands often offer the widest selection of color, texture, and formulas.  Most important, loose powder mineral eye shadows are considered natural earth friendly.
Applying a base allover loose powder mineral eye shadow makeup to eye lid is easy by following a few simple steps.
1.       Using the mineral eyeshadow sifter jar lid, tap a small amount of the loose powder eye shadow color you have selected. A clean tissue is also an option to tap out powder instead of jar lid.
2.       Take a dense natural hair makeup brush and gently tap lower tip sides of bristles into the loose mineral powder.
3.       Tap off all excess loose eye from brush bristles. An overdose of mineral eye shadow powder on the eye lid can cause product to grab on skin or fall into the eye itself. Tapping off excess eye shadow powder prior to applying to eye lid is the key.
4.       Repeat steps 2 and 3.
5.       With tip sides of makeup brush, gently tap and smooth mineral eye shadow onto eye lid starting at middle of eye lid and working out, and in. This will distribute the eye shadow powder evenly.
6.       That’s it for a quick and easy mineral eye shadow loose powder application.
Not all mineral makeup brand eyeshadows adhere equally. Loose mineral powder eye colors can seem sheer compared to container contents. In the case of sheer mineral eye color application try repeating steps 1-6 above, change mineral makeup brands, or try the wet foil method for applying mineral eye shadow makeup.

How to apply liquid eye liner-1

Applying eyeliner with an eye pencil is by far the easiest application method.  Most eyeliner pencils glide easily on the eye lid.  An eyeliner pencil that grabs the skin instead of gliding on can be heated with a lighter for a smoother application.  The downside to eye liner pencils is they do not get close enough or in-between the eyelashes for smooth continuous coverage, thus causing the eye to look made-up and unnatural.
Liquid eyeliner is the hardest eyeliner formulation to apply, but with a steady hand it offers a dramatic and eye opening effect.  A benefit of liquid eyeliner is it can be applied before or after other makeup, allowing the user to judge just where any makeup is needed.  Most makeup artists will apply eyeliner at the beginning of individual makeup sessions.
Liquid eyeliners are found at department and drug stores, like Nordstrom or Wal-Mart.   Mineral makeup brands carry powder eye liners that must be mixed with water or a mixing medium to apply.  Read “Apply mineral eye shadow like a pro, part 2.”   Almost every loose powder mineral eye shadow can be transformed into a liquid or paste eye liner allowing for an endless color selection.
Proper distribution of liquid eye liner on and in-between eyelashes is easily achieved by following the steps below:
1.     Approximately one half inch from outer eyelash area pull skin taunt toward face edge. (Figure 1)
2.     Remove applicator from eyeliner container.  Using container edges, remove almost all excess color. This helps prevent application overdose.  Remember it is easy to apply more liquid eyeliner; it’s not easy to remove excess eyeliner.
3.     Eyeliner application starts above the middle of the iris.  Distribute most of the eye liner color towards the outer third of the lash line. (Figure 2)
4.     Using the bottom edge of eyeliner applicator, lightly tap color between lashes then smooth outward on lash line.   Repeat lightly tapping and smoothing until outer edge of lash line has been reached.  Use more color only if necessary.
5.      Without reapplying more color to eyeliner applicator, proceed to inner three quarters of upper lash line to smooth and blend remaining liquid. (Figure 3)   Some makeup users will realize they do not need eye liner over the entire lash line.  Too much or incorrectly applied eyeliner will cause the eye to appear smaller and garish.
6.     Let the eyeliner liquid dry on eye area for approximately 5 seconds.  During this time it’s a good idea to return the liner applicator to its container.
7.    For natural eye appeal, it is important to soften liquid eyeliner.  Smudging gently over top of liner color in outward strokes will achieve the desired result.  The best accessory for smudging and eye liner is a pointed cotton swab or eye liner smudging brush.
8.     To apply lower eye liner color, use the same application method used in steps 1-7.   Remember eye liner color should only be applied to the outer third of lash line; any closer will cause the eye to appear smaller. (Figure 4)

Using liquid eyeliner might seem daunting for the first few applications, but the gorgeous outcome is well worth it.

How to apply liquid eyeliner -2

Easy Step-by-step method on how-to apply eyeliner seen on celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears, Halle Berry, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and others.  Read Part 1 :  How To apply liquid eyeliner-1."

Part 2 offers in-depth strategies of just how to apply liquid or foiled eyeliner in-between the eyelashes for the dramatic results used by celebrity makeup artists.
Loose powder and cake eyeliners are easier to apply than premade liquid eyeliners. Using a mixing medium or water allows the eyeliner to be formulated to the correct consistency without having to worry about product migrating onto the eyeball itself.
The makeup brush of choice for powder and cake eyeliners will be an angled or straight edge eyebrow, concealer, or eyeliner brush. Taklon makeup brushes have stiff bristles, perfect for mixing and applying liner between the eyelashes.
The eye shadow foil mixing method is shown in Part 2 of “Mineral Makeup 101: Apply mineral eye shadow like a pro.” The foil eye shadow mixing method is the same as used for pressed or powder eyeliner.
To touch base on the eye liner or shadow foil application method:
1.    Find a small container for mixing the mineral eye liner or any makeup loose powder eye shadow in. The sifter jar lids that mineral makeup products come in are the perfect container.
2.    Tap a small amount of eye shadow powder into mixing container. Less than 1/16 of a teaspoon will work correctly.
3.    Drop a pea sized amount of mixing medium or water into eye shadow powder and stir well.
4.    Using a stiff taklon eyebrow, liner, or concealer makeup brush, blend the two ingredients together until a soft paste is formed.
The foil liquid eye liner should have a slight paste consistency.
Using the same makeup brush used for mixing draw a straight line on back of hand. If the line draws smoothly without grabbing the liquid eye liner formulation is accurate.
The foil eyeliner application method is the hardest of all liner methods, but once perfected it will be the eyeliner method of choice.
When applying the foiled liquid eye liner it is easy to become discouraged and quit, but don’t. It’s really not as hard as it may sound, and it’s well worth learning.
Steps to applying the foil liquid eye liner:
1.    Application begins at the middle of clean lash line working each application outward. All eye shadow and mascara will be applied after eye liner.
2.    Dip desired makeup brush into paste/liquid eye liner and wipe off excess on mixing container edges. Too much product will transfer into the eyeball; though can be cleaned up easily with pointed cotton swab.
3.    One inch from outer eye between lashes and eye brow, take a flat pinky finger and press gently up and outwards toward face edge. This allows for the eyelash line to be completely viewable and stiff so eye liner can reach designated areas.  See Figure 1
4.    With a stiff taklon flat tip makeup brush, the same used for mixing, gently set brush tips flat against lash line and wiggle in a back and forth motion. Wiggling the eyeliner brush slightly allows contact in-between lashes as well as on lash line itself.  See Figure 2
Divide outer green lash line area in thirds, apply brush, wiggle color, repeat.
5.    Using the wiggle method apply to each area of upper lash line individually. There is not a need to continue to reapply liquid liner to makeup brush. The amount of liquid liner on brush should allow two or three application transfers.
6.     After applying the foiled aka liquid eye liner to the outer half of lash line work product from middle towards inner eye corner stopping before the area known as the lacrimal sac. Never apply any eye makeup within this region as it can block the ducts.
7.     When the complete upper lash area has been lined, use an angled side of the same makeup application brush to smooth over entire area.
8.     Use a clean pointed cotton swab dipped in water if necessary to remove any eye liner mistakes.
Practicing the liquid foil eyeliner in-between lashes method will result in an eye-popping, natural appearance that is sure to have other makeup wearers asking how it was accomplished.
Cake eyeliner used with a mixing medium or water applied can also be used for the in-between lashes eye liner method.

How to formulate a mixing medium for makeup applications

Mixing Medium is one of the best cosmetic inventions according to professional makeup artists.  It has the ability to transform almost any loose powder mineral makeup or cosmetic product into a variety of formulations and colors.
Professional makeup artists use Mixing Mediums often to change how they apply makeup as well as change loose powder mineral makeup into liquid formulations.
Mixing Mediums can be used by any makeup user, crafter, or painter.  They offer a wide selection of usages as seen below.
Methods of Mixing Medium use:
1. Diluting liquid or cream foundation to a lighter color or more sheer shade
2. Transform cosmetic loose powders or mineral makeup into liquid and creams.
3. Add to lipstick to form a lip gloss using another cosmetic container for mixing.
4. Use with straight pigments or micas to make an art and body paint.
5. Customize unique one of a kind art and makeup colors.
6. Formulate colors to paint on glass, plastic and other surfaces.
7. Mixing to form airbrush makeup.
8. And many more avenues of application.
The best Mixing Mediums will be water based.  They can be purchased at retail outlets like Dillards that offer a M.A.C. Cosmetics counter, M.A.C. Pro Stores, Naimie’s Beauty Centers, and Sally Beauty Stores.
It’s not necessary to purchase water based Mixing Mediums for use with mineral powder or other makeup.  Mixing Mediums can be formulated cheaply, quickly, and easily with a few simple steps, and products found at local stores like Wal-Mart or Target.
Only two product ingredients are needed to formulate water based mixing medium; distilled water and natural vegetable glycerin. (see photos below)
The items for mixing and storing a makeup Mixing Medium will be a suitable sized cosmetic container, or glass Pyrex container.  Sifter jars without the sifter insert work well if product is not being sold to others. (see FDA.gov for cosmetics and toiletries laws and regulations.)
Steps to formulate a mixing medium for use with mineral makeup or other powders:
1. With rubbing alcohol sterilize all utensils, makeup brushes, and containers that will be used.
2. Measure into appropriate makeup container one third vegetable glycerin and two thirds distilled water.
3. Using a sterilized taklon makeup brush, (see photo below ) Pyrex glass stirring stick, or craft stick, or electric hand mixer, blending ingredients together thoroughly.
4. Proper blending time is 1-5 minutes.
The makeup Mixing Medium is now finished and can be used with cosmetic products or crafting projects.
Mineral Makeup Pigments and Mica Powder Colors
To use the homemade Mixing Medium locate a cosmetic container and sterilize.  Add a small amount of mineral makeup powder, pigment, or mica (see photo above) into container and blend with a dab of the makeup Mixing Medium.  Depending on the type of makeup product needed, it may be necessary to add more mineral powder or Mixing Medium.
The blending method will be the same to formulate a liquid, cream, or paste makeup product.  Only the amount of loose powder and Mixing Medium will vary.
It’s fortunate in this poor economy, for makeup users to have cheap and easy techniques to formulate mineral makeup foundations, eye shadows, liners, and blush  into pretty color palettes for everyday use.

Makeup for you

There are those who would not be dead in public without makeup, and then there are those who refuse to wear makeup and those people are by nature, not from look.
Some informed me that they want their skin to breathe. Now, do not worry! Many of the skin on the body, leaving the rest of the breath to do it! Do you keep your skin in the middle and did not suffer as long as you make sure that clean at the end of the day. But really, you can search for natural makeup. In this way you can clean, speed and capacity weaknesses that (and probably you!) do not like for a basic lesson on how fresh and natural.
Natural Makeup Techniques
We expect that the base (base), congealers, powders and go to now in part 2, how to apply make-up eyes and lips. In the case, make-up on the term “less is more” certainly does not apply if you live in the city at night, is different – bright eye shadow, mascara and glitter Lippi. You can be a bit more of a foundation, an excellent and said that “paint” your masterpiece! But the day when you are at work, at home or take that look like Coco Clown stores!
Sunscreen for Oily Skins
You can see a lot of real-aging makeup. Let’s start with your face really clean. On this day, use sunscreen to block lotion. If your skin is oily use a non-greasy when it is completely dry, lip balm and sunscreen use in one. Make-up is a base (or foundation) in many forms of liquid adhesive cream, etc. It basically involves the selection, although a stick or a “solid” floor is generally better and the things which seems to be almost completely cut out the cores. Cover the lighter base fluid and natural look.
Oil-Free Liquids for Dry Skins
If your skin is oily, dry and compact base at work, or opt for a liquid oil-free. Dry skin cream base, “Tau” wet look. Make sure you choose the base color of the skin as close as possible. Do not look for their black base tan bronzing powders are, above all of creation. Go outside the store when choosing colors and making sure they look good in natural light. It is best packed in your test by replacing the sod for wrist. This page about makeup provided by payday loans no credit check, a cash loans no credit check, and cash advance provider catering to Aussies.
Sun Protection with Antibacterial Additives
Don base make-up of the supermarket to buy, you will not be able to try it! Markers for a natural look, you can cover the spots and veins on concealed without foundation heavy roof for use against love. Correctors can be in various forms, but they’re working all the same. You can use the built-in sun protection and also with antibacterial additives if you wish. Try to get a little lighter than that of the skin. Dab concealed to the desired range. Do not rub hard or melt into the pores. Make sure it is well mixed, and it has no “tide marks”.
Damp Sponge Foot of the Face
Well, at the foot of the face. Do you clean? Do not use too much at first, you can always add more. Mix well. Some artists use a damp sponge, but the fingers just as well. Remember to put a hairline in the human hand, especially around the nose and jaw line. But not stopping jaw, face like a mask. Mixture of anything so far in front of your neck, you have make-up is optional collar.
Bringing a New Look
Powder surface, but I would use it as a ‘set’ make-up and takes a lot of oil. Press powder on contact, or if you prefer a powder brush. After a few minutes, brush the powder with the movements of the past. To apply blush Light on apple cheeks and brush to the temples. Not a lot of brush, you can always go. If you use a rouge cream, apply it before eating. Dot the apple cheek and blend into the temple. Mix well! Now my special tip is Moist cold front plate (not wet) on the face and gently. That is the whole person, bringing a new look – wonderful!

Makeup Brushes Versus Fingers: Whats the Best Way to Apply Your Makeup?

These days, I am trying to use my fingers to apply  concealer, foundation and cream blush, but something lately was off with the application. The products hadnt changed. My skincare hadnt changed. Maybe it was a combination of stress, not enough sleep and a change in the weather.

Good tools truly are useful. Theres a reason why all the top makeup artists carry around dozens of makeup brushes. I know most artists will tell you a combination of fingers and makeup brushes is the way to go, but I dont think I can apply enough product with my fingers or getting the application just so.

The importance of makeup to social courtesies

Etiquette for when and how to put on makeup

There is an art to being a lady. Refreshing ones face is part of the art of courtship rituals, gender roles, manners and a necessary practice that separates the Brittanys from the J. Los.

So here it is: The Top Ten Rules of Etiquette for when and how to refresh ones makeup:

1. Less is more, especially when you are doing a quick retouch. If you need the works, use the mirror in the ladies room.

2. Peer quickly into a compact mirror or your reflection to gauge what needs to be done. Blink your eyes for crusting eye shadow. Check for little black dots of mascara and try to lift away. Run ring finger under bottom lash for runaway eyeliner. Make sure you are uniform.

3. Lipstick. Dab it. No lip liner unless in private and your aim is true. This is not to be attempted after some cocktails.

3. Powder. Okay to use to even out the foundation. Do not apply liquid foundation on a makeup retouch unless you are going to start from scratch. Never put on foundation in the bathroom unless it is teeming with natural light. The light wont help you and you cant pull it off. Tips on how to apply foundation, check here or here.

4. Errant hair near eyebrows STAY. Fix later.

5. Errant hair on upper lip. For starters, get a better bathroom mirror so this doesnt happen, but by all means, take care of it!!

6. Perfume. Only use outside. Rude otherwise. Perfume is a mysterious scent you carry, not a human body Lysol treatment. Generally, apply before you go out and not part of your carrying pack. Buy a smaller version of your favorite scent and keep it in the box in your purse. Also, do not apply a direct hit. Subtlety wins the day.

7. Where to apply. Generally, the ladies room. If not available: ask yourself whether Holly Go lightly apply her makeup here? Would it look charming if you were to take a peek and make some changes? Dont do it during meetings, in a moving car, at any table at any restaurant, or at your desk.

8. When to apply. Before going out to lunch. Not on the hour. Not because you were running late. Before leaving the office. During a date or a night out where the environs have changed, such as leaving packed nightclub and going to a new place.

9. Never when hes looking.

10. Not in the company of women unless you want feedback.

As a Chinese makeup brush supplier, Toney makeup brushes Co,.Ltd, supply various makeup brushes (Blush brush, Powder Brush,Lip Brush,KABUKI Brush,Eyeshadow Brush,Sponge Applicator,Makeup Brush Set) for ladies in different occasions. Tips to Apply Makeup as a Man

Get a concealer that is the same shade as your skin tone. If youre shopping, try it at the base of your face to see how it compares to your skin tone. Its best to judge a concealer in actual daylight, because fluorescent lights wont allow for an accurate match.
Dont touch your face during the day, as it will rub off the makeup and also increase your likelihood of acne.
*       If possible, get a very close shave, then allow your skin to rest about 20 minutes before continuing with the rest of your routine.
*       If you have oily skin consider using a shine control hydrating lotion.
*       To add a touch of color try using a bronzer over your cheekbones, nose, forehead and chin. This is not uncommon among men and it is applied with a makeup brush. You can find bronzers made exclusively for men (packaging is somewhat different) but dont be afraid to try the many options made available to women. The counter and packaging may be different, but women have more options with color and finish.
*       The makeup brushes that come with most bronzers are made of cheap plastic, or it comes with a puff sponge and cant apply powders evenly. Consider going to a makeup counter and buying a powder brush. These are very large brushes with soft hairs.
*       Remember to use a moisturizer with a sunscreen on your face everyday, year round. Do NOT use Handlotion or body cream. Find something made for faces (less heavy oils and fragrance to irritate your skin) that has an SPF of at least 15.
*       To add extra definition to your eyes, have unruly eyebrows waxed or plucked by a professional. There are supposed to be two eyebrows and you should never let your eyebrows grow too long. Trim!
*       The older you are or the dryer your skin may require you to step to a heavier moisturizing cream. Some creams also have agents to help with wrinkles, reddening or other skin woes. Go to a makeup counter in the mall or a free standing store. Youll find it takes less time to speak to a consultant than it does to read misleading labels in a drug store.
*       To avoid the crowds, visit these stores or counters weekday mornings when they are less busy. Men frequent these counters quite often, so you shouldnt be shy. Many brands (Clinique, Merle Norman, etc.) even offer mens skin care lines. You can even take a few minutes and let them help you apply the skin care to make sure you are doing it right. If you want to add color, try a few bronzers and let them help you get that concealer.
*       You may need to adjust your concealer for winter and summer depending on how much sun you have. Dont be afraid to have seasonal products and go a few shades darker in the summer after youve had some sun.
*       Try mineral makeup specifically designed for men. Mineral makeup is good for your skin, contains SPF protection, and is virtually undetectable. It is great if you have problems like acne or rosecea.

Warnings
Do not exfoliate immediately after shaving. Doing so will irritate your skin.
If cotton sticks to beard while using toner, put toner in a plastic spray bottle and mist it on to your face. Store it in the fridge for a cool sensation.
Dont try to conceal a spot that is open, weeping or bleeding. Makeup wont do a very good job and may only make it look (and feel) worse. Wait until its closed before you apply makeup on top of it.

Things Youll Need
*       Exfoliator
*       Toner
*       Moisturizer
*       Cosmetic Pads (100% cotton)
*       Concealer or foundation

Man makeup

Concealer, bronzer, self-tanner, eyeliner -- it sounds like a checklist for a womans makeup bag. But they could be items in, yes, a mans makeup bag.
The last decade saw the "metrosexual" phenomenon, with men paying more attention to shopping, dressing and grooming. Now, established companies known for makeup and skin-care products for women are catering to the other gender with products to push mens style boundaries. Clinique has non-streak bronzer and concealer for men. Jean Paul Gaultier, which is mostly a fashion house of haute couture, has a two-in-one stick of concealer and eyeliner, also known as "guyliner."
Pete Wentz, a member of the musical group Fall Out Boy and husband to singer Ashlee Simpson, has a line of guyliners called WentzPentz. The new products have some people proclaiming a new wave in mens grooming.
"Globally, the mens grooming market continues to grow as many men are striving to take better care of their skin. The male consumer is becoming more informed about the health of his skin and (how) to slow the affects of aging," says Megan Marsanico-Byrne, assistant manager of Clinique Global Communications.
Patty Bunch, a celebrity makeup artist who has worked on actors Halle Berry, Billy Crystal, Tony Danza and Jennifer Aniston, says she knows men who dye their lashes or wear waterproof mascara to give new dimension to lashes.
"The truth is, women are taking advantage of all the anti-aging makeup and are looking fabulous, so the men better catch up. A little extra help never hurts," she says.
Tyler Thoreson, executive editor of men.style.com, the online home of Details and GQ magazines, says hes noticed "man makeup" but doesnt believe itll ever become popular. In fact, he laughs at the suggestion. "I think its completely idiotic. It gives true mens fashion and mens style a bad name. All of that should accentuate your masculinity, not undermine it," Thoreson says.
He acknowledges a demand for more grooming options for men but Thoreson says there probably are very few guys who would wear concealer or bronzer and stick with it.

Apply Eye Makeup in 8 Steps

When evening calls for a glamorous look, you want to focus on making your eyes amazing. Heres how to apply eye makeup in only 8 steps.

Difficulty: Easy

Time Required: 10 minutes

Heres How:

1.Prep your eyes with concealer Concealer can be used to cover up under-eye circles or just the bluish discoloration just under your inner eye. To cover dark undereye circles, apply three dots of concealer under each eye. Start at the inner corner where skin tends to be darkest, then under the pupil and the third on the outer edge. Pat, never rub with your ring finger (this finger tends to have the softest pad) until it disappears.

2.Apply eye base to your lid Eye base is the secret to keeping your shadow in place for hours. Without properly priming your lid first, your eyeshadow will likely end up a greasy line in your crease.

3.Follow with eyeliner Dark eyeshadows work great as eyeliners. Wet a slanted brush, then dip in a dark eyeshadow. Line eyes as close to the upper lashes as possible from the inner corner to the outer corner. Follow with liner on bottom eyes, but only line from the middle of the eye out. Smudge the bottom line with a Q-tip or your finger. You dont want a prominent line. For a smokey eye, use a brush to pat in a dark eyeshadow along the upper lid and below the lid. You dont want a stark line, instead you want to blend it so its "smudge-y."

4.Apply eyeshadow. Its great to use a three-toned shadow and build from lids to brow (see How to apply eyeshadow). Allowing them to blend into each other like a rainbow is gorgeous, according to celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal. Start with a light color that almost matches your lid. Sweep the color across the lid and up to your browbone. Follow with a medium color across your lid only. Build on this with a darker color in the crease. Blend the colors well.

5.Brighten your eyes with a highlighter This step involves only the inside part of the eye. Putting a bit of your lightest eyeshadow in the inner corner of your eye will brighten it significantly (this is the makeup artists secret and I use this trick all the time). I usually dab a finger into my lightest eyeshadow and then I press it into the inner corner of my eye where the upper lid meets the bottom lid. This totally makes eyes "pop."

6.Highlight your brow Take the same light eyeshadow and dab it on your browbone, concentrating on your mid-brow outward. Blend with your finger. I like to use Yves Saint Laurents Touche Eclat just below my brow and just above it, but a super light shadow will do you.

7.Curl lashes An eyelash curler will make even long lashes look more gorgeous. For added effect, you can heat the curler under a blowdryer for a couple seconds. Test curler before applying to lashes because you could burn yourself.

8.Apply mascara Place the wand of your mascara brush at the bottom of lashes and wiggle back and forth. Follow with another few sweeps of the wand. Apply to bottom lashes as well. See How to apply mascara for step-by-step instruction and extra tips.

How to Apply Mascara

Here I share my 15 best mascara tricks and tips, plus how to properly apply mascara.
How to Properly Apply Mascara
Ace your mascara application with a three-step process:
1.               Step 1: Wiggle the wand left to right at the base of lashes. Its the mascara placed near the roots -- not the tips -- that gives the illusion of length.
2.               Step 2: Pull the wand up and through lashes, wiggling as you go. The wiggling part is key because it separates lashes.
3.               Step 3: In this final step (which I always skip), close the eye and place the mascara wand on top of lashes at the base and pull through to remove any clumps.
Pick the Best Mascara for You
When picking mascara, you should consider the formula you want (lengthening, thickening, waterproof or non-clumping). Learn more about your options in How to Pick the Right Mascara Formula.
You should also consider price. You can get a good basic drugstore mascara or spend more money on a luxurious mascara. I find the fancier mascaras go on with less clumping and last longer, but its likely no one would be able to tell if you were wearing a drugstore brand or a department store brand..
I prefer Lancome mascaras and I always use waterproof mascara in summer time or when skiing.
Most drugstores and department stores have excellent return policies so if you try a mascara and hate it you can return it. Never try mascara on at a department store, theres too much risk for infection. Instead, check out the stores return policy and take a few home to try. Also, dont get suckered into a full-makeover at the cosmetics counter
How to Keep Lashes From Clumping
For some, lash combs are simply too fussy. But for some makeup artists, theyre a great invention and keep lashes glob-free and perfectly separated. To use a lash comb, first apply mascara at the lash base, then wiggle the lash comb through to the tips of your lashes.
Not into the lash comb? Get rid of clumbs without them by removing excess mascara from the wand. Wipe wand on tissue, this eliminates blobs BEFORE you start.
Another great way to get rid of clumps is to sweep a clean, fresh mascara wand through lashes when theyre wet. Either buy new ones or recycle old ones. Buy clean mascara wands online (theyre called "spoolies" or at Sephora.
Recycle an old mascara wand if you dont want to bother with spoolies. When you finish mascara, clean the wand in a cap-full of eye makeup remover, then wash with soap and dry. Keep it clean by washing it whenever you wash your makeup tools.
Dont Be Afraid to Mix Mascaras
A trick makeup artists use to make lashes pop is apply one coat of lengthening mascara, followed by one coat of thickening mascara. Remove excess product with a clean spoolie wand (see above).
Try Colored Mascara
Basic mascara rules are simple: Black works for everyone but can be harsh on light-skinned blondes. Blondes should opt for brown/black by day and reserve black for night. Burgundy or plum colors make blue eyes pop, as do blue mascaras. Purple mascara looks great on brown eyes.
Use an Eyelash Curler
Curling lashes gives eyes the appearance of being wider and brighter. Shoot warm air from your blowdryer on the mascara curler for 3-5 seconds to warm it up before curling lashes. Touch it first to make sure its not too hot. Its a myth that you have to curl lashes before you apply mascara. You can curl lashes after mascara application; just make sure the mascara is dry first. Shu Uemura eyelash curlers are super popular.
Zig-zag the Mascara Wand
Zig-zagging the wand back and forth during application helps cut down clumps.
Apply to Top Lashes Only
Many makeup artists recommend applying mascara only to the top lashes (I abide by this rule). If you want to make eyes appear wider, apply mascara to the bottom lashes but make sure you give lashes a light touch. Not great at getting those bottom lashes? Try putting a tissue under them before application.
Use a Mascara Primer
Primers coat lashes and separate them before you apply mascara. Makeup artists swear by mascara primer. I tried it and like it, but because its an added step, I usually use primer only on special occasion when I spend more time on my makeup. My hands-down favorite is Lancomes Cils Booster XL.
What it Means to "Apply a 2nd Coat" of Mascara
I was always confused by magazines directives to coat eyelashes with "no more than 3 coats of mascara." It seems magazines have been giving these directions since I was a pre-teen and likely before. What they mean is to apply the coats of mascara all at once before the first coat dries. Once the first coat dries, youll get clumps if you attempt another swipe at the lashes.
Thou Shalt Not Pump Wand In & Out of Tube
This only introduces air into the tube, which will cause your mascara to dry out sooner than it should.
Bend the Wand
A top makeup artist once gave his secret to his steady hand: he always bends his wand at a right angle.
Wait to Blink & Doublecheck Once Dry
Since I have long lashes, I try to wait 5 seconds before blinking after I apply mascara or I end up with mascara dots all along my lid. I also doublecheck my lids before I step out because chances are good, Ive got those dots going on and its embarrassing to find out hours later that youve done a poor makeup job on yourself when youre a beauty editor by trade.

How to Conceal Wrinkles
Less is more when it comes to downplaying wrinkles on your face. Find out the right and wrong way to apply powders and foundation.
·                        Highlight your eyes. Great eye makeup will make eyes "pop" and attract eyes away from the wrinkles on your face. Always keep brows groomed and filled in.
·                         Go light on foundation. Many women with wrinkles make the mistake of trying to cover them. But a face full of heavy foundation only highlights wrinkles. Instead, try a tinted moisturizer and use only on the parts of your face that need covering up. Also, no matter how pale you are, go a shade or two darker with foundation. Lighter shades only highlight wrinkles.
·                        Watch that powder habit. When you were younger, you likely had oilier skin and got used to powdering your entire face. But dewy skin is actually youthful and you should put away your powder (except for the nose and chin). Makeup artists tell me they NEVER use powder on women over 50 unless theyre going to be taped, because powder sits atop wrinkles highlighting them.

How to Conceal Sagging Skin
Youve heard the old quote attributed to Catherine Deneuve, "When you get older, you have to be ready to trade your ass for your face." If you have sagging skin, dont run off to a plastic surgeon. Here are my favorite tricks and tips that, unlike a facelift, cost little or nothing.
·                        Downplay jowls with gorgeous earrings, but stay away from chokers, which bring eyes straight to your jaw line. Love necklaces? They should hit at the collarbone or lower. Dont wear elaborate earrings and a necklace, pick one or the other. Both can be overkill.
·                        Got a crepe-y neck? Haircuts that hit just below the chin will draw attention away from your neck. Longer cuts attract the eye downward, according to stylist John Barrett in the November 2007 issue of O magazine. I also love the look of scarves, wrapped several times around the neck. Very European.
·                        Dont apply blush to the apples of your cheeks or you risk looking like a clown. Instead, choose a rosy blush and using a large fluffy brush, sweep color over the highest point of your cheekbones. Start about an inch in from the nose.
·                        Dewy skin is always youthful. Because aging skin tends to be dry, skip the powders and opt instead for liquid foundation and creamy blush. Pat skin with a pea-sized amount of moisturizer after makeup application to create "dewy skin."

Crows Feet around the Eyes and Lips
People start developing crows feet around the eyes in their 30s. I consider my own "laughing lines" and believe they are a sign of a good life.
·                        Dont try to cover up wrinkles around the eyes with heavy concealer. Youll end up with raccoon eyes. Apply just a few dabs of concealer and always pat in concealer with your ring finger. You can also use a brush which distributes concealer more evenly.
·                        Try skipping powder around the eye area, it tends to settle into wrinkles.
·                        Laugh lines around lips? Plump up lips and bring attention to THEM, not the surrounding area, by using a moisturizing lip gloss. Any time you add moisturizer to skin or lips, it plumps them up, making them appear more youthful.

Saggy Lids
Crepe-y lids are another natural part of the aging process. You can spend thousands on an eyelift or you can try these beauty tips that cost nothing.
·                        Never apply mascara to bottom lashes. Instead, curl upper lashes and then apply a couple coats of thickening mascara. Curling lashes always makes eyes pop.
·                         Makeup artists also suggest keeping eyeliner to the upper lid only. A liquid liner stays better than pencils. You can practice curving the line up on the outer corners of eyes to "lift" them. Avoid thick, heavy lines, however. I am a believer in rule-breaking however, so I think you can go ahead and line the bottom lashes, just skip the liquid liner and try a pencil instead making sure to smudge it with your finger. Also, your eyes will look beady if you try to line the inside of your eyes (my mom used to do this and it drove me crazy).
·                        Reconsider shimmers. Shimmery eyeshadows only highlight crows feet. The one area they work in is the inside corner of the eye. Apply a dot of shimmery light eyeshadow in the instead corner of the eye to make eyes pop.
·                        When you have a saggy upper lid, no need to go all out with several different colors of eyeshadow. Instead, keep eyeshadow in place all day with an eyeshadow primer, then apply a couple sweeps of a light eyeshadow thats flattering to your skin color. Skip the bright, crazy colors.
·                        False eyelashes have made a comeback. But skip the full lashes from the 70s and instead opt for individual lashes.

Makeup Tips for Older Women-2

Thinning or Bushy Eyebrows
Im a stickler for good brows and am known for making my friends let me tweeze theirs.
Keeping your brows done nicely is like having a facelift without surgery, according to author Charla Krupps brow guy. Here are some tips for perfect brows:
· Get your brows professionally done. Nothing opens eyes up like curling lashes and keeping your brows neat. If you cant afford waxing or threading every few weeks, use the professionals job as a map for your own tweezing. Simply pluck the stray hairs that grow in between professional tweezing or waxing.
· Drawn-in brows are a no-no. You know the pencil-thin line you see some of your friends or women in your town wear? Well, they only age you and theyre somewhat tacky.
· Avoid tweezing gray brow hairs. Instead, conceal them with a brow powder or pencil.

Thinning Lips
Personally, I love a thin lip. I read somewhere once that its a sign of intelligence. I dont know about that, but I do know that as we age, our lips lose some of their fat..
· Picking the right lip color is a must. Makeup artist Bobbi Brown suggests skipping the bright colors and instead of for a color thats just a shade or 2 darker than your natural lip color.
·  As you age, your natural lip line fades. Create a lip line by coloring in lips first with a lip liner, then apply gloss or lipstick over the liner.
·  Consider getting rid of lipstick and using lip gloss instead. Gloss creates the illusion of puffed-up lips, especially when applied to the middle of lips.
·  Lip plumpers do work, but the effects dont last long (were talking under an hour). So skip the plumpers and save your money. Even Vaseline on lips will make them appear larger.

Ack! What to Do About Sprouting Chin Hairs
For the record, I know 30-year-olds with chin hair problems. You can tweeze them or have your stylist tweeze them, but they will always grow back. The only way to keep chin hairs at bay permanently is electrolysis.

How to Get Rid of Your Moustache
· You have 2 options for moustaches: Wax them off with a home waxing kit you can buy in any drugstore or have a professional do it.
·  To lighten dark moustaches, try kit made just for this which you can find in your beauty aisle at the drugstore.

The Makeup Artist Profession

Makeup artists apply makeup to fashion and photographic models, actors and other performers involved in stage, film and television productions, brides and other clients for special occasions.
The professional makeup artists job is to interpret the makeup requirements of clients and to produce both a creative and technically accurate visual representation. This may in some cases involve very basic makeup for a TV presenter through to more complex period makeup or special effects.
Depending on the nature of the job, a professional makeup artist can work alone, as an assistant to a more senior colleague or as part of a makeup design team. They may work in a variety of settings: film; television; theatre; live shows; or photographic shoots.
Makeup artists often must research the hair, makeup, and clothing styles of specific time periods. Then they draw sketches or collect photos to show the designs they have in mind. Sometimes they make prosthetic devices. These items are used to change the appearance of performers. For example, artists might create a beard for an actor, or fleshy face parts to make him look older. Makeup artists also consult with directors and technicians about their ideas and designs at various stages of the process.
Before a performance or filming, the makeup artists job is to apply foundations and makeup to create the effect they want. They style hair and attach wigs and prostheses. Some makeup artists do special effects, such as wounds or deformities for horror or action movies. Sometimes the application of makeup can take several hours for one performer alone. Large productions usually have many makeup artist jobs.
During a performance or filming, makeup artists remain backstage to monitor the production. They maintain actors makeup throughout the show or filming, doing touchups if needed. They also help actors remove the makeup at the end of the show or workday.

A professional makeup artist job may involve performing the following tasks:
• Prepare the skin for makeup application and remove makeup as required
• Demonstrate cosmetic products to clients
• Instruct clients about makeup application
• Apply a wide variety of professional makeup products
• Design wigs, beards, masks and prosthetics (artificial body parts) and apply them to achieve an appropriate character appearance
• Use makeup to produce effects such as aging, illness, scars and bruising
• Alter or maintain makeup during productions to ensure the continuity of a performers appearance
• Advise hairdressers on the hairstyle required for character parts.
• Communicate with clients to clarify what look is required;
• Read scripts to ascertain materials/look required/budget implications, known as production study, which may require further research;
• Produce and sketching design ideas;
• Work with other members of the design team to ensure the overall look/effect is consistent and coherent;
• Build a rapport with makeup subjects;
• Demonstrate and implement a practical understanding of lighting, the photographic process, colors and the impact of special effects/makeup processes on the skin and ensure that appropriate action is taken to minimize or eliminate any unpleasant side effects from the use of specialist makeup/hairdressing techniques;
• Ensure continuity in hair and makeup, taking detailed notes and photographs of work
• Cast facial and body molds, sculpting latex foam - known as prosthetics;
• Manipulate/apply wigs, hairpieces and prosthetics;
• Maintain wigs, hairpieces, prosthetics and other specialist materials and equipment;
• Hairdressing, which is an essential part of the work;
• Plan, budget and order equipment and materials from specialist suppliers;
• Work quickly and accurately in time-pressured conditions.

A:  You can choose some basic makeup brushes, for example some good quality blush brushes, it can be also used as power brushes, and it is easy to use, can learn quickly.
Q:Should I buy all kinds of makeup brushes?
A:Of course not, for new learner, it will be enough to have a powder brush, a multi-function face brush, an eyeshadow brush. These brushes will be enough for most occasions.
Q:How should I clean the makeup brushes
A:Generally, if you use makeup brushes every day, you should clean the blush brushes and eyeshadow brushes once one or two weeks, and clean the foundation brushes every two or three days, and the lip brushes should be cleaned every day.
