Make Your Own Makeup Brush Cleaner

Cleaning your makeup brushes is very important to keep infections and other ickiness from contacting with your skin. However, makeup brush cleaner is rather expensive, so why not make your own makeup brush cleaner out of stuff you have in your house?
It is very easy

Instructions

Things you’ll need:

  • dish or container to mix ingredients in
  • spoon to mix with
  • 1 cup distilled or purified water
  • 1 tablespoon alcohol
  • 1 tablespoon shampoo (baby shampoo or a gentle shampoo work best)
  • 1 tablespoon leave in conditioning spray (optional)
  • measuring cup
  • measuring spoons
  • bottle to put the cleaner in when finished
1. To make your own makeup brush cleaner, you must first, combine your water, alcohol, shampoo, and leave in conditioning spray into your mixing container or dish.
2.  Next, stir the ingredients SLOWLY. If you stir too quickly it could cause the shampoo to suds up, which is exactly what you dont want, so take your time mixing.
3.  Last, but not least, simply pour the mixture into a bottle and start cleaning your brushes. If you dont have a steady hand, you may want to use a funnel for this last step. I like to put half of the mixture into a small spray bottle and half into a regular bottle so that I can use it to deep clean and spot clean my brushes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Adding the leave in conditioner is not necessary, but it will keep the hairs on your makeup brushes soft.
  • Keeping your makeup brushes clean is absolutely necessary to avoid infections.
  • If you have an infection in your eyes such, avoid using your makeup brushes as you dont want the bacteria on your brushes or in your makeup. Applying makeup over infections can also slow down the healing process.
  • Keep the mixture out of the reach of children!
