Makeup brush set and their uses

People sometimes think that a full set of makeup brushes is not needed and that they can get by with 2 or 3 to do everything. That is not very hygienic and your brushes will not last as long, but most importantly you won’t get a polished look. For example, if you have one brush (or your finger) for applying 2 colors and eyeliner to your eye on will end up with the color not blended correctly and no clear distinction between colors; also if you use the brush to apply a dark eyeshadow then next time you want to use it to apply your base/light color it will still have remains of previous dark color which then causes a dirty look.
The same goes for your powder brush if you use it to apply your powder then your bronzer/blusher then next time you want to use it for powder it will still have remains of the bronzer/blusher.
As a Chinese makeup brush supplier who has been in this industry for more than 10 years, Toney supplies various makeup brush set per customer requirements.
And remember that buying makeup brush set will save some money comparing with buy individual brushes. Please contact us if you have any demand.

Using your makeup brushes to create a professional look

Makeup is not just a matter of cosmetics the accompanying application tools, the skills of the person using these are equally important. More often, it is the ‘right angle’ and the ‘right pressure’ applied skillfully while using the professional makeup brushes that can work wonders. Not everyone is a professional makeup artist but that doesn’t mean that you can’t get a professional look when applying your makeup.
Having a wide range of makeup brushes that are different shapes and sizes greatly helps when trying to perfect a look and then our advice for creating a professional looking application is to practice.
Don’t be scared of your makeup if you apply it and it doesn’t turn out the way you hoped, just wash it off with a simple cleanser and try again. If you start with your eyeshadow and don’t apply any mascara and face makeup until you are happy with that then removing it shouldn’t cause red puffiness as eyeshadow can be removed with a sweep of water on cotton wool. Use one eyeshadow brush for the lighter shade all over your eye and an angled or smudge eyeshadow brush with a darker shade to define your socket. Eye liner can be applied using a flat, liner eye brush or a pencil that can later be smudged.
When applying blusher or bronzer, an angled makeup brush will help you get the right shape of your cheek and the trick is to apply one layer then apply powder then another layer, this will help it stay on and not look streaky.
When creating the perfect lips, it’s a good idea to use a natural nude lip liner to define the shade and then apply a color with a lip makeup brush. If you have gone for dark or very bright eyes then you should keep the lips glossy but not full of color, only use a deep or bright shade on your lips if you eyes are understated, as you don’t want to look like a show girl when your aiming for an everyday look.
Remember that with the right makeup brush, the right amount of makeup can be applied. The material from which the hair of brushes is made determines their powder holding capacity and how will transfer when it touches the skin, so investing in natural hair brushes will really help you achieve that professional look and they will last you a life time if you care for them in the correct way.

How to make makeup brushes last

Buy our makeup brushes as they are made for longer use, and are all-natural brushes which are made of goat, squirrel, pony and sable hair. They are very reasonably priced so may not even cost more than synthetic brushes, and they’ll last for years if you take care of them.

Expand your brush collection. If you’re using the same four brushes for everything, they’re going to wear out faster than if you use several different brushes. Buy a few eyeshadow brushes in different shapes and designate one for light colors (base) and the other for dark shades (contouring). Make sure that you use one brush for your base face powder and a separate one for blusher/bronzer.

Dust or wipe off excess makeup left on your brushes after each use. Use a soft cloth or tissue and take care not to pull on the hair too roughly. Build-up causes brushes to lose effectiveness and the hair to break down.

Wash your brushes every couple of weeks. Pick up a specially formulated brush wash or you can use baby shampoo. After washing, rinse water over the brush until it’s clear, making sure all traces of foundation, blusher and eye shadow are gone. Squeeze out excess water and reshape the brush. Pat brushes down on a paper towel, and lay them on a flat surface to dry. Do not use the makeup brushes again until completely dry.

Make brushes last by protecting them from the sunlight. Store brushes in a roll-up brush bag with separate slots for each brush. Avoid bags with zips, as the hair may get caught in them and ruin the shape of hair. Remember to take all of your brushes out of the bag and wash out the bag with soap and water every so often.

Throw out your old makeup. Using dirty makeup wears brushes down and may also spread bacteria to your face. Definitely throw out anything that smells, and get rid of anything you’ve had for more than 3 years.

Tips
  • Don’t stand newly washed makeup brushes upright to dry. This may cause uneven drying, may make the brush funnel bloat due to excess moisture or even loosen the glue then making the hair fall out.
  • Don’t let make-up brushes soak overnight because doing so breaks down the hair and may even lead to mould developing.
  • Don’t share makeup brushes, especially if they’re being used on the lip or eye area you could spread infections

clean your natural hair Makeup Brushes

Makeup brushes are the most important component of beautiful makeup application. Natural hair makeup brushes are more expensive than synthetic but with proper cleaning and care, they can last a lifetime. Buying a full set of makeup brushes costs less and is a great investment, and will pay off with the easy application in creating a beautiful face of makeup on anyone. Learn the easy steps to caring for your natural hair makeup brush.
Makeup brushes are your valuable cosmetic tools and require proper care.
Pour or spray the makeup brush cleanser onto the paper towel. Start with a small amount and add more as needed throughout.
Gently Remove Makeup, using a back and forth and side-to-side motion over the towel, sweeping gently and not rubbing or pushing on the hair. You will see makeup being removed from the brush onto the towel. Add more makeup cleanser to a clean spot on the towel and repeat this step until the brush is clean.
Smooth brush back into shape and lay flat to dry, preferably with the brush head hanging over an edge. Allow 5-12 hours for drying, depending on the thickness of the brush. Do not let the liquid drip into the funnel.
Tip: You can use baby shampoo as makeup brush cleaner.

Apply Eye Makeup in 8 Steps

When evening calls for a glamorous look, you want to focus on making your eyes amazing. Heres how to apply eye makeup in only 8 steps.

Difficulty: Easy

Time Required: 10 minutes

Heres How:

1.Prep your eyes with concealer Concealer can be used to cover up under-eye circles or just the bluish discoloration just under your inner eye. To cover dark undereye circles, apply three dots of concealer under each eye. Start at the inner corner where skin tends to be darkest, then under the pupil and the third on the outer edge. Pat, never rub with your ring finger (this finger tends to have the softest pad) until it disappears.

2.Apply eye base to your lid Eye base is the secret to keeping your shadow in place for hours. Without properly priming your lid first, your eyeshadow will likely end up a greasy line in your crease.

3.Follow with eyeliner Dark eyeshadows work great as eyeliners. Wet a slanted brush, then dip in a dark eyeshadow. Line eyes as close to the upper lashes as possible from the inner corner to the outer corner. Follow with liner on bottom eyes, but only line from the middle of the eye out. Smudge the bottom line with a Q-tip or your finger. You dont want a prominent line. For a smokey eye, use a brush to pat in a dark eyeshadow along the upper lid and below the lid. You dont want a stark line, instead you want to blend it so its "smudge-y."

4.Apply eyeshadow. Its great to use a three-toned shadow and build from lids to brow (see How to apply eyeshadow). Allowing them to blend into each other like a rainbow is gorgeous, according to celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal. Start with a light color that almost matches your lid. Sweep the color across the lid and up to your browbone. Follow with a medium color across your lid only. Build on this with a darker color in the crease. Blend the colors well.

5.Brighten your eyes with a highlighter This step involves only the inside part of the eye. Putting a bit of your lightest eyeshadow in the inner corner of your eye will brighten it significantly (this is the makeup artists secret and I use this trick all the time). I usually dab a finger into my lightest eyeshadow and then I press it into the inner corner of my eye where the upper lid meets the bottom lid. This totally makes eyes "pop."

6.Highlight your brow Take the same light eyeshadow and dab it on your browbone, concentrating on your mid-brow outward. Blend with your finger. I like to use Yves Saint Laurents Touche Eclat just below my brow and just above it, but a super light shadow will do you.

7.Curl lashes An eyelash curler will make even long lashes look more gorgeous. For added effect, you can heat the curler under a blowdryer for a couple seconds. Test curler before applying to lashes because you could burn yourself.

8.Apply mascara Place the wand of your mascara brush at the bottom of lashes and wiggle back and forth. Follow with another few sweeps of the wand. Apply to bottom lashes as well. See How to apply mascara for step-by-step instruction and extra tips.

How to Apply Mascara

Here I share my 15 best mascara tricks and tips, plus how to properly apply mascara.
How to Properly Apply Mascara
Ace your mascara application with a three-step process:
1.               Step 1: Wiggle the wand left to right at the base of lashes. Its the mascara placed near the roots -- not the tips -- that gives the illusion of length.
2.               Step 2: Pull the wand up and through lashes, wiggling as you go. The wiggling part is key because it separates lashes.
3.               Step 3: In this final step (which I always skip), close the eye and place the mascara wand on top of lashes at the base and pull through to remove any clumps.
Pick the Best Mascara for You
When picking mascara, you should consider the formula you want (lengthening, thickening, waterproof or non-clumping). Learn more about your options in How to Pick the Right Mascara Formula.
You should also consider price. You can get a good basic drugstore mascara or spend more money on a luxurious mascara. I find the fancier mascaras go on with less clumping and last longer, but its likely no one would be able to tell if you were wearing a drugstore brand or a department store brand..
I prefer Lancome mascaras and I always use waterproof mascara in summer time or when skiing.
Most drugstores and department stores have excellent return policies so if you try a mascara and hate it you can return it. Never try mascara on at a department store, theres too much risk for infection. Instead, check out the stores return policy and take a few home to try. Also, dont get suckered into a full-makeover at the cosmetics counter
How to Keep Lashes From Clumping
For some, lash combs are simply too fussy. But for some makeup artists, theyre a great invention and keep lashes glob-free and perfectly separated. To use a lash comb, first apply mascara at the lash base, then wiggle the lash comb through to the tips of your lashes.
Not into the lash comb? Get rid of clumbs without them by removing excess mascara from the wand. Wipe wand on tissue, this eliminates blobs BEFORE you start.
Another great way to get rid of clumps is to sweep a clean, fresh mascara wand through lashes when theyre wet. Either buy new ones or recycle old ones. Buy clean mascara wands online (theyre called "spoolies" or at Sephora.
Recycle an old mascara wand if you dont want to bother with spoolies. When you finish mascara, clean the wand in a cap-full of eye makeup remover, then wash with soap and dry. Keep it clean by washing it whenever you wash your makeup tools.
Dont Be Afraid to Mix Mascaras
A trick makeup artists use to make lashes pop is apply one coat of lengthening mascara, followed by one coat of thickening mascara. Remove excess product with a clean spoolie wand (see above).
Try Colored Mascara
Basic mascara rules are simple: Black works for everyone but can be harsh on light-skinned blondes. Blondes should opt for brown/black by day and reserve black for night. Burgundy or plum colors make blue eyes pop, as do blue mascaras. Purple mascara looks great on brown eyes.
Use an Eyelash Curler
Curling lashes gives eyes the appearance of being wider and brighter. Shoot warm air from your blowdryer on the mascara curler for 3-5 seconds to warm it up before curling lashes. Touch it first to make sure its not too hot. Its a myth that you have to curl lashes before you apply mascara. You can curl lashes after mascara application; just make sure the mascara is dry first. Shu Uemura eyelash curlers are super popular.
Zig-zag the Mascara Wand
Zig-zagging the wand back and forth during application helps cut down clumps.
Apply to Top Lashes Only
Many makeup artists recommend applying mascara only to the top lashes (I abide by this rule). If you want to make eyes appear wider, apply mascara to the bottom lashes but make sure you give lashes a light touch. Not great at getting those bottom lashes? Try putting a tissue under them before application.
Use a Mascara Primer
Primers coat lashes and separate them before you apply mascara. Makeup artists swear by mascara primer. I tried it and like it, but because its an added step, I usually use primer only on special occasion when I spend more time on my makeup. My hands-down favorite is Lancomes Cils Booster XL.
What it Means to "Apply a 2nd Coat" of Mascara
I was always confused by magazines directives to coat eyelashes with "no more than 3 coats of mascara." It seems magazines have been giving these directions since I was a pre-teen and likely before. What they mean is to apply the coats of mascara all at once before the first coat dries. Once the first coat dries, youll get clumps if you attempt another swipe at the lashes.
Thou Shalt Not Pump Wand In & Out of Tube
This only introduces air into the tube, which will cause your mascara to dry out sooner than it should.
Bend the Wand
A top makeup artist once gave his secret to his steady hand: he always bends his wand at a right angle.
Wait to Blink & Doublecheck Once Dry
Since I have long lashes, I try to wait 5 seconds before blinking after I apply mascara or I end up with mascara dots all along my lid. I also doublecheck my lids before I step out because chances are good, Ive got those dots going on and its embarrassing to find out hours later that youve done a poor makeup job on yourself when youre a beauty editor by trade.
