Makeup brush smells? how do I clean it?

Q: I found a few of my old makeup brushes and I was going to use them. But the bristles on one of them smells really bad. And I dont know how to clean it. I dont want to soap it or anything because then the left over of the soap will dry and then irritate my face. How can I clean it and get the smell out of it. I dont even know what cause it to smell. I was in a container stocked away.

A: You should get some professional makeup brush cleansers or any from your drugstore. What I do to clean my makeup brush is take olive oil and dip my brush in it and rub the brush on a paper towel and you will see all the excess color come out of the brush. Keep doing this do the brush until all the color is out. Then mix shampoo in a bowl of water and clean your makeup brushes. Do not go past the metal part because you don’t want the glue to loosen and break off. Then once the makeup brushes are dry swipe them across your hand to check if there is any more olive oil residue and if so use the shampoo again. The shampoo will condition your brushes and treat them gently as you do to your hair and dish soap is fine too. Then your brushes should smell like your shampoo.

The makeup brushes smell

Many girls are very worried about the smell of their makeup brushes, and are wondering if that means the makeup brushes is bad in quality. If fact, even the best makeup brushes from the famous brush brands also have some smell.

It is very normal phenomenon. You can get rid of that smelly smell with a simple home-made deodorizer under the following steps:

•1 Combine all ingredients together in a container. You will see a slight fizzing because of baking soda. This is normal.

•2 Place makeup brush in a circular container such as a glass, or cup. Make sure that the brush will be able to stand upright.
Fill container up to barrel line (the part where the bristles are coming from stem).

•3 Allow to sit in solution for no more than five minutes. Remove and gently squeeze liquid from makeup brush. Be sure to keep shape of brush by sculpting with fingers. Allow to sit for another two minutes and them wash brushes as usual.

Allow to dry over night flat on a clean napkin (depending on density and size of brush).

Now you have some fresh clean new makeup brushes!
