However, these handles need molding which
requires high order quantity, so during initial design process, many customers
choose to produce a prototype by 3D printing to test the market. If the
feedback is good, they can consider putting the makeup brushes into mass
production.
Recently, some customers are puzzled,
because their 3D printing supplier told them that the prototype was completely
produced by 3D printing, why we tell them the brush handle needs molding?
It is known that 3D printing cost is high-
about USD500; we cannot use 3D printing for all of our brush handles. For mass
production, we have to use different process to reduce the cost, therefore, we
need to develop a mold for the handle, and put materials into molds to produce
required handles, in this case, if the order quantity is big enough, the handle
cost will be very low.
In summary, 3D printing is only proper for
prototypes, but not affordable for mass production.
