Recently, at the "Luyi, China's Makeup Brush City" makeup brush industry development exchange meeting, Liao Changjing, chairman of the Brush and Cleaning Utensils Branch of the China Daily Miscellaneous Industry Association, said that all industry entities should prioritize the transformation and upgrading of the cosmetic brush industry, promote the high-end, branded, standardized, intelligent, green and clustered development of the makeup brush industry, and continuously enhance the core competitiveness of the Luyi makeup brush industry.
Luyi, located in eastern Henan province, is famous for its "beauty industry" and its makeup brush production accounts for half of China. In the 1970s, Luyi people took advantage of their unique resources to make goat hair into makeup brushes. Since then, the scale of the industry has gradually expanded, and OEM makeup brushes for international brands such as Chanel and L'Oreal.
However, if the makeup brush industry only do OEM orders, the profit is very limited, after creating own brands, the profit can be increased by nearly 50%. In this background, with the help of policy dividends and the new business philosophy of the younger generation, Luyi makeup brush factories have created more than 60 independent brands , and developed more than 100 varieties in 14 categories such as beauty makeup pens and aviation instrument brushes, authorized more than 200 patents, and applied for more than 90 technical patents such as "makeup brush and kit appearance design" and independently developed production equipment. The local standard for makeup brushes formulated by Luyi fills the gap for makeup brushes in China.
In addition, besides bristles and brush heads, a makeup brush also requires handles and ferrules etc. In the past, these accessories had to be imported. In recent years, Luyi has developed the traditional characteristic industry of makeup brushes, focusing on extending, supplementing and strengthening the supply chain. All kinds of accessories can be produced in the industrial park, making up for the shortcomings of the local high-end makeup brush industry chain. Luyi has now formed a complete makeup brush industry chain with natural goat hair, aluminum ferrules , wooden handle, synthetic bristle wire drawing, packaging, etc. A full-industry chain of tens of billions of makeup brushes industry cluster integrating product R&D, standard formulation, and brand creation has been formed. At present, there are 163 makeup brush manufacturers, with an annual output of 30,000 tons of wire drawing and 150 million sets of various makeup brushes. The products are exported to more than 40 countries and regions, with annual sales exceeding 10 billion yuan, creating more than 70,000 jobs.
In 2022, Luyi was awarded the title of "China Makeup Brush City". Next, Luyi plans to continue to extend the industrial chain and make the beauty industry bigger and stronger.
